What would you, as a liberal or a conservative, be willing to give up in order for the other side to let you have something that you want? Are you willing to compromise, and if so what for?

Would you as a liberal be willing to accept a conservative policy if it can achieve a liberal goal?

I think that people ought to be bound by a core set of principles. Outside of that, everything is negotiable.

In case you were wondering, that is how Reagan did it.

Historically speaking: that's the way in which this 'our democracy' has been working for well over 200 plus years.

Should there be something specific in my state, in my county in my elected area that needs special funding, special enhancements, then I'll {as that elected official} move heaven & hell to achieve that goal and that's what each and every one of our elected officials do 24/7 each & every day they are seated in that position!

Is this all new and exciting to you...WELCOME TO AMERICA would you like French Fries with that

I seriously doubt this considering your overall belligerent attitude towards people whose politics you disagree with.

It takes an Independent to put it all right in to perspective...READ AND BECOME EDUCATED INTO THE AMERICAN WAY OF GETTING THINGS DONE! LOL

Bernie Sanders is a Socialist:

Bernie Sanders is a self-described democratic socialist, but because he does not belong to a formal political party, he appears as an independent on the ballot. He is the first person elected to the U.S. Senate to identify as a socialist.

Its a shame that other socialists feel the need to hide behind the label of "Independent" rather than simply be proud of their belief in Socialism.

....Like, not trading-weapons-for-hostages....right??

I guess he does deserve credit for the authorship of "preemptive-striking", though.

"During the 1980s the Reagan administration sponsored an anti-Sandinista guerilla movement known as the Contras (a proxy paramilitary based in Honduras and Costa Rica, largely consisting of northern highlanders known as the Milpas and led by former Somoza regime soldiers) against the socialist Sandinista government in Nicaragua. The resulting war killed over 50,000 people, mostly civilians.

Under the Carter Administration, the Sandinistas had received tacit U.S. support in their coup against the previously U.S.-backed right-wing military dictatorship of the Somoza dynasty, which had ruled the country for several decades. An interim coalition, Junta, took power in 1979 and in 1984 leader of the FSLN party, Daniel Ortega became Nicaragua's first elected President who ruled under the name of the Sandinista revolution. As the years progressed, the Ortega government was accused of becoming more authoritarian, with the more moderate factions of the coalition being expelled from government. Allegations of suppression of political dissent increased, as did accusations of state-sponsored human rights abuses. However, these accusations of human rights abuses were not accurate, according to Human Rights Watch: "Almost invariably, U.S. pronouncements on human rights exaggerated and distorted the real human rights violations of the Sandinista regime, and exculpated those of the U.S.-supported insurgents, known as the contras." As well, Ortega was a supporter of Fidel Castro's Cuba and many members of the Sandinista government sought to model Nicaragua along similar lines. Cuba sent doctors and technicians to Nicaragua and the Soviet Union shipped some military equipment, including some Hind helicopters.

The leftist nature of the Sandinista government and its support for Cuba distressed many in the Reagan administration, who viewed the country as a key Cold War battleground, in danger of becoming a Communist proxy state. As a result, covert support began to flow to the anti-Sandinista Contra rebels, whom Reagan had described as "the moral equal of our founding fathers."

Would you please quit your whining?

Individual Rights and Laissez-Faire Capitalism.

That’s how we got into the fix we are in. Too many people want laissez-faire capitalism because they are greedy for monetary gain regardless of the cost to others, and too many people have the philosophy of “if it feels good, do it” regardless of the cost to society.

OH NO YOU DIDUNT!:D

You didn't point out that Conservatives are so petty that they rename fast food!

I think that's a core principle. NO WON'T SEND TROOPS TO IRAQ ON A LIE SOUNDING FAST FOOD!

WTF!

Being serious of course there should be compromise. And this whole core values thing has gotten just as ridiculous as the aforementioned FREEDOM FRIES.

The extremes in a Party try and make everything that Party even wanted or might want to do a "core value". That's why now you almost have to have a filibuster proof majority to get anything important done.
