1. TOKYO -- Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and three Cabinet ministers ate Fukushima fish sashimi at a lunch meeting Wednesday, in an apparent effort to show that fish is safe following the release of treated radioactive wastewater from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant that began last week.

Kishida and the three ministers had sashimi of flounder, octopus and sea bass, caught off the Fukushima coast after the water release, along with vegetables, fruits and a bowl of rice that were harvested in the prefecture, Economy and Industry Minister Yasutoshi Nishimura, who was at the meeting, told reporters.

The release of the treated wastewater into the ocean, which began Thursday and is expected to continue for decades, has been strongly opposed by fishing groups and by neighboring countries. China immediately banned all imports of Japanese seafood in response. In South Korea, thousands of people joined rallies over the weekend to condemn the discharge....

In Japan, the release of the water has faced fierce opposition from fishing groups that fear it will further hurt the reputation of seafood from the Fukushima area. The groups are still striving to repair the damage to their businesses caused by the meltdowns of three reactors.

2. If the Fukushima wastewater is really safe for mankind and all other living things, why should the Japanese PM waste such valuable asset by dumping it into the ocean? Instead, he should take the following steps to save the precious water:

He should use it daily:

(a) for washing his kitchen floor.

(b) for washing his bathroom and toilet.

(c) for washing the floors of other rooms in his house.

(d) for flushing his toilet bowl.

(e) for bathing himself and his family members.

(f) for the fish and other aquatic creatures in his fish tank.

3. The amount of Fukushima wastewater for dumping into the ocean is about 1.3 million tonnes -- enough to fill 500 Olympic-sized swimming pools. He will certainly not be around to see the release of the last drop of Fukushima wastewater into the ocean decades later. In order to have the chance and honour of seeing the last drop of Fukushima wastewater (which may fetch millions of dollars in a future auction), he should divide the remaining amount of wastewater among all Japanese households to be used in the same way.

The Fukushima wastewater can also be used for washing the streets and roads of the country, besides washing cars and other vehicles.
