Key Initiative of 'No Child Left Behind' Under Federal Investigation

"The Justice Department is conducting a probe of a $6 billion reading initiative at the center of President Bush's No Child Left Behind law, another blow to a program besieged by allegations of financial conflicts of interest and cronyism, people familiar with the matter said yesterday."

    Rest of article at: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/04/20/AR2007042002284.html

While this "initiative" has done little good for the children, it certainly has paid off for Bush and his cronies...

My high school was one of the just 37 public schools across America that were honored as being textbook examples of the "success" of No Child Left Behind and we had a 20% dropout rate. That says something.

Wow! 20% drop out rate and that was considered a "success"????? What a sham!

Thanks for the first hand story.

That rate fluctuates a lot. It's usually between 10 and 20 percent though.
