"..Cuba paid its respects to the late boxer Teofilo Stevenson, one of the greatest Olympians of all time who turned down the chance to fight Muhammad Ali at the height of both fighters' powers.
Stevenson, who won three gold medals as a heavyweight boxer and turned down multi-million dollar offers to turn professional after emerging as a huge talent at the 1972 Munich Games, died of a heart attack at the age of 60.

US boxing promoters tried in the late 1970s to tempt Stevenson to fight then world champion Ali for $5 million in what they said would be the "fight of the century" but it never happened as he rejected the offer.
"What's a million dollars compared to the love of eight million Cubans?" Stevenson was quoted as saying as a 20-year-old after his first Olympic gold in Munich, expressing his loyalty to the Cuban revolution which outlawed professional sport.

"I wouldn't change a piece of Cuban soil for all the money they could give me."

Professional boxing is a complete joke, both corrupt and fixed.

Sad story Uncle Joey. So sad.....

That foolish boxer gave up his livelihood for a lost cause...and a political ideology that is murderous, intolerant, hateful, EVIL, IMMORAL, and MOST DEPRESSING.

But look at the bright side my Commie deluded friend....had he pursued a boxing career and made millions, your good buddy Castro would likely have had him imprisoned for life for being a capitalist...and you would have approved.
QUESTION: is it better to live a life in a commie prison or a life under Communist rule? Now that is a toughy!

Also...could be Castro forced him to accept a life of poverty (communism and poverty are synonymous) or get a bullet in the back of the head....since you commies are histories GREATEST COLD BLOODED KILLERS!!!

    Enjoy your weekend Killer!

from each according to his ability... ole Teo could have maintained a lot of parasites with that boxing money. But he would lose to the Greatest so I understand why his machismo prevented him that embarrassment.

Do you object to the Black power salute as well. As least the Australian bronze medal winner supported it......

The Australian athletic Peter Norman was a member of the Salvation army.He was sincere in his support for the blacks and has been admired both black and white in Australia for his stand

You know the history of the black power symbol? Its most widely-known usage is by the Black Panther Party.

Unions also use the fist symbol. The unions' history is pretty bad too. They were racists, (kept out minorities) revolutionaries and today a lot of them are socialist/marxist/communists.

Cruella your post does not change anything. The fist started as a sign of revolution but now has been adopted by the Workers. In Australia the Eureka flag which was first flow by miners who own gold leases is now flown by workers here

The fist is a symbol. IMO it symbolizes Marxist revolutionaries and communists. And the workers who sport these symbols are their useful idiots.

Fist images, in some form, were used in numerous political graphic genres, including the French and Soviet revolutions,
    Was the French revolution communist?
