Common sense from a high elected official? Now that's news.

Yes, Martha, fewer people get shot when the good guys are allowed to have guns too... even though most of them don't bother carrying even then.

Nice to see the country dragging itself - however slowly - back toward Constitutional compliance.

Florida governor rejects gun ban for Republican convention

By Michael Peltier | Reuters – 20 hours ago....

Tallahassee, Florida (Reuters) - Florida Governor Rick Scott has shot down a request by Tampa's mayor to allow local authorities to ban guns from the city's downtown during the Republican National Convention in August.

Citing Second Amendment protections in the U.S. Constitution, Scott told Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn that conventions and guns have co-existed since the nation's birth and would continue to do so during the four-day event beginning August 27.

"It is unclear how disarming law abiding citizens would better protect them from the dangers and threats posed by those who would flout the law," the Republican governor said in a letter on Tuesday.

More guns = less murder....says the nation with most murders and guns outside of a war zone.

Well lets go down the RNC with our AK-47's....I am sure the cops will enjoy that...protect them but they can't really unless you have already shot someone.

the police take reports of crimes that are already committed.

lefties like this mayor cannot distinguish criminals with guns from citizens with guns and seemingly lose understanding of the English language where the Bill of Rights is concerned.

its the "well regulated Militia" part you guys seem to be unable to read.

there can be no regulation of guns...yet the words well Regulated are right there...insert head in sand pretend its not there.

the militias were well regulated when they had them. "shall not be abridged" is the salient phrase.

OMG .... did you really post that?

How could the greatest political document in the history of the world, which was written in the simplest of layman terms be so hard for some people to understand?

It's because liberalism is a disease that deteriorates the mind rendering it's victims with absolutely no capability of maintaining a simple coherent thought!
