He issued a threat today to other countries. Assuming NATO countries, if their troops are deployed in Ukraine, he reminded the world he too has nuclear weapons. He threatened sure consequences including destruction of humanity. It can't be clearer than that.
It appears he will not tolerate a defeat in Ukraine and will destroy everything on his way down. Like Trump, these aren't threats. Both would do it if given the chance.

Putin is mad enough to do anything and he has Trump licking his boots salivating at a chance to install his own variety of autocracy.

of the ukrainian khruschev/ brezhnev clique, there was a gentleman's agreement that NATO membership would not increase eastwards.

As many native american tribes will attest, a written agreement with washington dc is not worth the paper it is not written on, much less a verbal agreement. Also, the real evil empire is woefully short of gentlemen.

Full marks to comrade putin for opposing the CIA-sponsored coup in Kiev in 2014, regaining russian territory and stopping the shelling
