Elite, Washington Establishment, Power Mongers, Money Changers, Inner Core, The Powers That Be (tptb), Ruling Class, The Power Elite, Economic Elite, Social Elite, ...

The nomenclature is numerous and overlapping.

Nevertheless there is power in names. The current list has no clear standout, none that has resonated with the American people and captured the minds to propel people toward change. The Power Elite has the advantage of having been used by Mills in a paper that I have never read but nonetheless appears to have some traction of its own.

I propose to you that Democat and Republican are words that do not capture the essense of who the enemy of the American people is. Today virtually all politicians are members of the elite and that allegiance may be stronger than their allegiance to party. Americans are largely ignorant and blissfully (well not so blissfully) unaware of who is manipulating them.

A term with more leverage or an existing term that is given more leverage is needed to persuade people of the truth around them. How would a term get more leverage? Rush has demonstrated that the media are lemmings and just about daily he showcases how the media pick a meme of the day and repeat that meme endlessly word for word. Should the meme be "power elite" that term might enter the public concioussness on a grander scale. Even if it were necessary for the term to be applied to Republicans alone if it enters the mainstream en masse it would be worth it.
