The only president that has ever lowered the national debt was a Democrat, Andrew Jackson. And how did do it? By driving the Five Civilized Tribes (Choctaw, Chicksaw, Cherokee, Seminole and Creek) off their farms in the SE US and selling their land for $1.25 an acre.
