Top Gun has it right. It takes time for any economic change to happen. It will take several months to evaluate whether or not the Stim Packages worked.
One with an interest in truth, rather than propaganda, and rather than making taunting comments that 'my side is right and your side in wrong' might also note that the first Stim package was passed during the time the much despised GWB was still President.

So the CBO, Congressional Budgeting Office, is spreading propaganda when they say there will be some short term benefits but the stimulus will stifle the economy in the long run due to unsustainable debt levels?
Its nice to see people who have taken the time to really look at themselves introspectively in order to proudly declare what it is they believe in, you have my respect for that.

A socialist policy passed under any administration, is still a bad idea. No one denies that Bush was the first to pass it. That doesn't even remotely mean it was a good idea, or that it will not have long term devastating consequences.
It didn't work in the UK, hasn't worked throughout the European Union, hasn't worked in a bunch of locations, and it sure won't work here.
When an idea fails every time it's tried, only a socialist will say we just didn't give it enough of a chance.
And knowing how the truth is sooo important to ya (not) I'm sure you'll tell the truth now and admit that economies don't drop into depression overnight.
That being the hard and true case it's obvious that the Bush & Republicant gang having full and absolute power for over 6 of the 8 Bush years drove into this deep ditch!
....At least, it looks that way.....seeing-as-how our military-expenses (in The Middle East) are, now, part of the budget.....rather than hiding them thru special-appropriations.

Shaman, you simply do not get the budgeting process. The President is trying to predict what a war will cost. These are usually drastically off. Passing the funding through supplement funding legislation gets you the actual price, as opposed to a random guess, usually then followed by more funding legislation.
Simply writing this into the budget before hand is irrelevant because you cannot predict the price of war... hence why war funding is done the way it was done.
