What would be a good way to reduce mass shootings, or casualties in a given event?

I was thinking of certain things being part of the background check that weren't before, that are not *permanent* disqualifiers (none of those would be added that aren't already present) but like "In the last 5 years" or something of that nature (e.g. certain mental health yellow/red flags, that aren't part of a criminal record)

That or something like shifting some of the undercover resources chasing drug trafficking, to instead trying to catch illegal trading of guns and other such things (including outright illegal things like explosives or full-auto things) because these things cause more harm to others, the majority of actual "casualties" from drugs are those using them.

That could be a statistical anamoly as for over the past 25 years of protect & serve the Pope or "death to the infidels" in the audience may be a preponderance of Christiananality pedophilia armed with Islamidiotocracy.......

The PhD democrat shooter at the Colorado movie theater was smart enough to know there would be nobody there to defend defenseless movie goers as he mowed them down like sitting ducks.

How the duck is MORE bullets flying in both directions going to do anything for the number of casualties except double them?

As opposed to like a psych screening or something of that nature that is required to get a license to own a gun? Or adding things to the background check that are *TEMPORARY* disqualifiers (such as, if you had x or y on medical history, within the last z years, no gun for you)

Weak leftist attempts to defend the fact that nobody at Sandy Hook or the Colorado theater was allowed to be armed against attack are nonsensical.

If a psych screening were run on people buying guns, or one was needed to keep a license current every now and again, I'm pretty sure if someone was about to do something that evil, some percent of them would fail the psych screening and be unable to buy the gun.

Could they get something else? Yes, it's *possible* but if they were to charge into (insert building here) with a sword or a knife, there would be fewer casualties, right?

The shooter and those who refused to allow Sandy Hook teachers to arm themselves against attacks were all secularists as far as I can tell. Nobody stood out in my memory as a God-fearing Christian who testified about his or faith during the attack.
