Are Federal Employees becoming Targets?

What the hell are you talking about. "Taking over the Flood Insurance Industry"??? The insurance companies don't want to cover Flood Insurance because it is not cost effective!
Until the feds took it over the insurance companies did cover private flood insurance. They insured those who were a reasonable risk and not those who were stupid enough to want a house on the edge of a river. It was profitable to insure those who were a reasonable risk. It as an act of congress that caused them to stop covering it. And the new federal program is deeply in the red. So before those stupid enough to want a house next to a river lost their house and now taxpayers pay millions so stupid people can live next to rivers. Let me rephrase that; you are paying money from your hard earned dollars so others can live next to rivers. If you think only the rich pay then you are mistaken. And if you think only the poor are buying riverside homes you are mistaken in that too. This is redistribution but not from rich to poor. It is often from poor to rich.

They should feel the same way about Health Insurance if that's the case. The insurance companies have a double standard on everything and once they feel it won't make them any money they just decide not to cover it!!!

The purpose of gov is to protect our rights. If the insurance company is violating someone's rights then the correct thing for congress to do is make laws against it and prosecute those who break the law. What is not the right thing to do is to is for gov to try to manage both the role of enforcing justice in the marketplace and being a player in the marketplace. That is a conflict of interest. It would be like asking one insurance company to be responsible for making sure that all the other insurance companies acted justly.

Why do we have mandatory Car insurance? It a Damn monopoly but your right the FEDS wouldn't do any better? But don't sit there and try to defend an industry with a straight face (unless your an investor making sure you get your profits) I would have more respect for the insurance industry if they just came out and said "Look we don't care about you we just want your money and if you get sick too bad, We're not paying for it" I remember seeing an old Discovery Card commercial about 10-15 years ago about a guy going into the ER and before they treated him they made sure his card cleared. Let's have a system like that.

The insurance industry makes less than a 4% profit . And they deny cliams to a remarkable small number of people. In Illinois over a period of years only 400 people out of millions were denied claims. And all of them had recourse to take the insurance company to court. Of those none had their claim upheld by the courts. Do I say this because I love the insurance companies? No, I just want people to make decisions regarding health care based on facts and not hyperbole.

What do you say Dr. Who. Would you like to see some bodies pile up on the streets? I know I would....We have public options out there whether it's the USPS, National Flood insurance, Medicare and Social Security. But your right a Public option for health care is a bad thing I agree. Instead let's give everyone a Million Dollars for the rest of their life strictly for Health Care. So lets see there are about 300 million Americans in this country so that is 1 million per person. Hmmmmmmm nah that's a waste of Tax payer dollars. We don't deserve it!

Based on the plans we have seen it would be more cost effective just to deposit a lump sum into everyone's Social security accounts that they could use for insurance premiums. But it is not the right way to do things nevertheless.

Whoa hold up. I never thought about dumping lump sums into people's Social Security Accounts. OK all Bull**** aside Dr. Who you caught my attention with this one. I mean why don't we just dump a million dollars into people's SS and just take a chance of doing it. I mean seriously I think that would solve this whole Health Insurance debate once and for all. I mean the government has the money to do so why not? Explain to me why we can't or why we shouldn't because honestly if Uncle Sam came up to me and said "ok look, We'll give you 1 million dollars into your SS if you decide to get health insurance or decide to go with out it" I mean come on Dr. Who you know that if the people in this country were told that, they would jump on it in a hearth beat. I mean wouldn't you? Like I said all Bull**** aside I think it would be a great idea. :)

Lets examine that for a moment.

First we would allow people to purchase health insurance from their social security accounts.

Second congress would dump enough money into every person's account to buy premiums for the rest of their lives.

Then all he people who do not have social security accounts would complain. Primarily that would be aliens. And Democrats would complain that aliens were not covered so we would still have uninsured people - albeit a whole lot less.

It would also not be redistributionist/collectivist (in the normal sense) so all the social democrats/socialist/communists/progressives etc. would complain.

It would move money from future workers to present workers. It would be nothing more than borrowing from the future. Which would raise the cost of living and lower the value of the dollar today.

It would cause health care costs to go up not only because of the point just above but also because when people felt like they were spending someone else's money they would feel more free to spend it foolishly.

But most important. congress has been authorized to do certain things by our constitution and this is not one of them. The present social security program is disguised as constitutional because each state runs the system in its own state. This would require further disguising of the system. And that kind of shenanigans is just not honest nor good for our country. It sets a precedent that eventually will result in our country no longer being the Repubic that our constitution made it. Then what WILL be? A socialist country? A fascist country?

That would still be more cost effective than the plans we have seen congress working on today but it is still not the right answer.

However, allowing people to withdraw the money that they themselves put into social security avoids most of the problems above.
