"After the State of the Union address at the beginning of this month, the Wall Street Journal ran an opinion piece that argued: Joe Biden is Bernie Sanders.” By this it meant that, somehow, by stealth, under the cover of darkness, a “democratic socialist” – both words apparently terms of abuse in the WSJ commentator’s lexicon – had invaded the White House and was now making policy for ordinary Americans, interfering in the unjust struggle of their lives, trying to help them get decent jobs and provide them with affordable healthcare. The implication was clear: offshore your assets and offer unhinged prayers to Marjorie Taylor Greene!"

I love Bernie, but I hate his decision, a few years back, to call social democrats 'democratic socialists', which gave the right fodder to call us socialists and communists a la 'venezuela' because, according to them, any policy designed to help ordinary struggling americans will cause America to wind up like the Soviet Union or Venezuela. Now, I admit no one is without fault, no one is perfect, far from it, but any party that would elect Donald Trump have lost their collective marbles.

Hey...you know....it kinda adds to it's credibility.

.

I recall that Bernie Sanders has been calling himself a democratic socialist since the 1970s, when he was a member of the Liberty Union Party in Vermont. He continued to use the term when he became Mayor of Burlington, Vermont, in 1981, and throughout his career in the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Not really. Under communism, there is no private enterprise or private ownership of property and Bernie is a long ways off from that. In fact, America isn't that far off from where Bernie is. The government is already heavily involved with the health care industry, energy and banking, though Bernie wants these industries fully nationalized, but not in toto insofar as health care (if I understand his policies correctly). We are a mixed economy, as are all Western Democracies, though some are more socialistic than others.

Bernie likes the russian systems and wants to nationalize several industries .
I cant support that

Bernie as stated openly that he does not support oppressive totalitarian regimes, those with gulags, murder their citizens, etc., and those who do this under the banner of socialism and communism. Also, his support of nationalization of strategic industries, health care (only partially) banking and energy, is not communism. You could call it statism in strategic industries, but that is as far as it goes with labels. Moreover, in each of these industries, there is substantial government involvement anyway.

there really is no point for your request. WE know he's been calling himself a democratic socialist since he entered politics in the 70s. What more do you need to know? What would a quote prove that isn't already empirical fact? I can't think of it, myself. So, you don't really have an argument here.
