Agreed. My question is, where do you draw the line about what is reasonable and what is not reasonable? What if we switched to a true flat tax where everyone owes the same amount? With a ~2.5 trillion $ federal budget and 130 million taxpayers, that's about $20000 per person. How many people could afford to pay $20000 in federal taxes every year? I certainly couldn't, I *need* the rich people to pay most of my share.Should we do a "flat tax rate" where everyone pays a fixed percentage of their income? Then people with a $1 million salary pay 100 times more for their meal than people with a $10000 salary. Is that fair? If so, then why is a progressive tax unfair? Honestly, I really don't know what should be reasonable.
