Every job has to reflect the amount of profit that the employer can make by paying you for your services. As soon as you cost more than you bring in, there is no reason for you to exist. There is a price for everything that is beyond which someone will pay. We don't have street sweepers anymore because it became more cost effective to buy a machine that costs ten times what they paid people, but it can do with one operator what 25 now out of work street sweepers used to do. If you had told the last street sweepers that they would be replaced by a big machine that could do the job of 25 of them and do it on midnight shift, would they have demanded higher and higher wages? Who would have believed 50 years ago that electronic devices would become cheaper to replace than fix? What used to be a skilled occupation almost doesn't exist now. AI is just around the corner and no job is safe now. Amazon has successfully tested retail stores without any people other than shelf stockers. Be careful what you ask for, you might be priced out of the market already...
