STARKE, Florida (AP) — A man who raped a 29-year-old mother and left her to drown in the surf of Tampa Bay more than three decades ago has been executed.

Sixty-five-year-old Robert Brian Waterhouse died by lethal injection at 8:22 p.m. at Florida State Prison near Starke. He had been on death row for 31 years — longer than any inmate previously executed in Florida. The execution was delayed two hours because of a last-minute appeal.

Waterhouse was convicted in 1980 of killing 29-year-old Deborah Kammerer of St. Petersburg, whose body was found in the tidal flats of Tampa Bay. She'd been beaten, raped and dragged into the surf. The two had been seen leaving a bar together, and blood, hair and fibers found in his car linked Waterhouse to the slaying.

Hooray, more death

That should keep all you pro lifers happy

And the US in the top 10 human rights abuser in the world

Dawkins what about China eh? they lead in executions in the world

Yes, I think they are just ahead of the US in this barbaric practice that just about every western democracy abolished a long time ago

Funny how the US has the death penalty and a massive murder rate

Its a bit like spending the most on healthcare and ending up with one of the worst systems in the western world

They are to be applauded

Funny isn't it that the more retarded and interbred the state the more likely it is to have the death penalty
