Reagan was a capitalist president with a democrat congress that he can and did work with often at cross purposes to his own inclinations.

Unlike more recent presidents...

Bush was a capitalist but not immune from socialism as evidenced with the Medicare Rx program. That waw a vore buying scheme pure and simple and he was also intent upon killing the dems by becoming dem lite. A stupid concept but now his, he just tried to further it. God to I wish he had not.

Oh and there are only 20% progressives. 40% conservatives and 40% independents and many of those are leaning right.

Let me see, it has been 3 weeks since I have visited the "House of Politics". The same old people are still stick in their same old corners of the house, speaking the same old rhetoric about who is bashing whom.

Everything revolves around Obama. No matter what topic is discussed, everyone is regarded as being either in the pro-Obama corner or in the anti-Obama corner.

Not one original thought provoking analysis do I see in any post in this tread; not one original idea.

As for me, I think Obama is the best president since Abraham Lincoln. He is doing a terrific job in all areas, foreign and domestic. My only criticism is that he has screwed up almost everything and kept none of his promises.

There. Now does that make everybody happy or everybody angry? On this forum their can be no middle ground.

I understand how you could say that... but it is somewhat unavoidable.

What happens is pretty easy to see. If a thread is started pointing out any obvious improvements then those wanting the President to fail immediately start to bash to try and undermine those accomplishments. Now there are good discussion though as well. Some Conservatives like Big Rob will challenge on specific ideology points and not just repeat toxic talking points rhetoric. And you have someone I see as very moderate and probably an Independent like PLC1 that will question or possibly cast doubt on a projected outcome but is more than willing to share ideas and try and work through all the possibilities.

On the other hand if a thread starts out... Obama the socialist baby killer... and some in here aren't far from that. Then there's little room to do anything else but become quite confrontational going into recent or even past history, Bush, Republican policies etc.

I think you just have to skim through the threads and decide if a particular thread seems important to you.
