The Bible was not written as any sort of guide. I bet you are wearing clothes of different fibers right now.
Jesus said, "Sell all that you own and give the money you receive to the poor and follow me".
Jesus believed that within a very short times, God was going to take over the entire world and form a divine government.

You may have notice that this never happened. Jesus died, and rather than staying dead, he resurrected himself and then took off and left the Earth for good. He said he'd return, but then he failed to do so.

Jesus may have been a nice guy, but he was a failed apocalyptic preacher whose prophesies did not occur.

The Bible has not been all that useful to the Hebrews or the Jews and Israelis that followed them. They were at war for many years, and were abusive to all non-Jews and even minority Jewish sects like the Samaritans. Jesus was far less successful at bringing peace and justice to his country. He was far behind Le Kwan Yew, the first prime minister of Singapore.
