What do you think of the Indiana law requiring people to provide a government-issued photo ID (driver's license, state ID, passport, etc) in order to cast their vote?

The conservative argument is that it will deter voter registration fraud.

The liberal argument is that it will disenfranchise people who don't have the time or the money to get an ID.

I kind of like Justice Anthony Kennedy's argument: "You want us to invalidate the statute because of minimal inconvenience?"

I don't think asking people to present an ID card to prove that you are who you say you are is too much to ask.

IDs are required for a lot of things these days. If people don't have a Driver's License or at least a government ID, I can't say that it is the government's fault.

Even the poor need IDs to purchase tabacco and alcohol. I really don't see the big deal with this. IDs to vote sound good to me.

I always thought it was required anyway. I've always presented my driver's license when I go to vote. I don't think there's any reasonable argument for why it shouldn't be required.
