While I do not think the USa is close to collapse I think it can not aford another war. To attack Iran will cost more than money. It is only likely to have and short term gains. It might keep the Oil suppy for another decard. But oil will eventually run out over the world, and alternative fuels will have to be used.THe main competition will be with China. They are moving from oil. Also the Pacific will be where most of the expenditure on defence will occur. Even to compete with the expansion of the Chinese navy will cost billions.The West can not afford another middle east war which will have no long term benefits.
