Reuters News Service just released the story that reads...
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former Vice President Dick Cheney was undergoing surgery on Thursday to treat an often-debilitating back condition caused by pressure on the nerves in the lower spine, his office said. "Former Vice President Cheney went to The George Washington University Hospital this morning for elective surgery to deal with lumbar spinal stenosis," his office said in a statement.
Lumbar spinal stenosis is caused by compression of nerves in the lower back, most often producing pain or numbness, tingling and weakness in the legs and buttocks. Cheney, 68, served under former President George W. Bush from 2001 until January this year. He has a history of health problems, including several heart attacks.
There are several elements to this story that are worth observing. Cheney is going to be using his really, really bad for us, but really, really good for him socialized medicine, government run health insurance plan to cover this elective procedure. Then there's the part of the story that describes the condition he's having treated. This may be just a red herring. After all the time Dick Cheney spent cowering in his hidey holes during the past eight years, called "undisclosed locations", I have serious reservations about him actually having a spine.
