I am always saddened when I witness a proud upstart being brought back down to earth after having lifted up himself or herself to undeserving heights of honor and praise. Comey Barret was right. The Constitution no more allows judges to act as independent monarchs than it allows a president to act as an independent monarch.

This is Ketanji Jackson. Leaving aside the point she’s making, is it even correct grammar to say “Imagine a Martian arriving here from another planet.” A planet other than Mars? This is like saying, “Imagine an Australian arriving here from another country.”
