in the US...
"Also known as Jaffar el-Tayyar (el-Tayyar = pilot), Shukrijummah a slightly built, asthmatic Saudi who lived for about fifteen years in the U.S. got his flight training in Florida, (hence the el-Tayyar), has a $5 million bounty for information leading to his arrest and supposedly possesses a number of passports from South American countries, the Caribbean, and Saudi Arabia (always Saudi Arabian involvement)
After having been seen in June 2004 in Honduras, it is believed he plotted with U.S. and South American gangs such as MS13 (Mara Salvatrucha) and M18 (Mara 18th Street) to not only smuggle Al Qaeda operatives into the U.S., but also nuclear devices."

tiny number of extremists... includes.... 500,000 in Gaza City.
the problem with being safe and far away in the US is that the truth is far from many people. understanding that the enemy is real and the numbers are strong would be a good defensive measure for the US.

"GAZA, Dec 15 (Reuters) - Hamas threatened to launch a new uprising against Israel on Saturday when hundreds of thousands of Islamist supporters rallied in Gaza City to mark the group's 20th anniversary.
"Our people are capable of launching a third and a fourth intifada until the dawn of victory rises up," said Khaled Meshaal, the group's exiled leader, in a speech recorded on Friday at his base in Damascus.

The central square in Gaza City was awash with green flags and dozens of armed, masked men from the group's military wing patrolled in a crowd estimated at between 300,000 and 500,000.
Hamas leader in Gaza, Ismail Haniyeh, said the movement was growing more popular because of its stance against the United States and Israel.

"Today is the day of Jihad, resistance and uprising," Haniyeh said."

Sorry, I don't buy the sleeper cells thing any more than I believe America was being taken over in the 50's by Communist sleeper cells. The whole sleeper cell thing is blown way out of proportion to keep us in a state of fear so we'll be willing to trade in our civil rights for perceived security.

"And in the general hardening of outlook that set in ... practices which had been long abandoned ... -- imprisonment without trial, the use of war prisoners as slaves, public executions, torture to extract confessions, the use of hostages and the deportation of whole populations -- not only became common again, but were tolerated and even defended by people who considered themselves enlightened and progressive."

no really, there are sleepers out there. and 30 groups in the UK that the government doesn't have a grip on.
AQ is a serious group with definate goals. this isn't our government making up $hit to scare us. we don't spend billions in defense of.... make believe.
