The technology's they need and infrastructure are not in place , States like Cali are mandating their sale . When they are retiring power plants and have rolling blackout . ev do not perform in cold weather which covers a lot of America .

EV's and fuel cell vehicles will become popular when it is apparent that there are plenty of charging stations and petroleum runs out or we are suffocated by the fumes and roasted by the rise in temperature. Perhaps Hydrogen powered fuel cells will become the dominant technology.

There was a HUGE public reaction to the abandonment of horses and mules in the 1910's and 1920's. There were enormous get-togethers of equestrians for around 20 years.

I have owned in my life ten cars. I bought each and every one of them USED. All the legislation that has passed has NOT prevented anyone from building gasoline fueled cars. You can still buy one new. At most, perhaps in some future date, they will pass a law against selling new gasoline powered cars. But of course, you still can buy used gasoline powered vehicles.\

"The Left" is not forcing anyone to buy anything. It is only restricting the amount of emissions that new vehicles can emit.

Nobody is forced to buy EVs but the democrats are passing unnecessarily more burdensome regulations on gasoline engines that will drive the costs of gasoline vehicles through the roof, just like Obama promised to drive the cost of burning coal through the roof if elected.

New automobile emission limits announced by the Biden Administration will force a massive increase in U.S. electric vehicle (EV) sales that, by 2032, will require at least two out of every three cars sold in the U.S. to be electric vehicles.

This mandate is another instance of the Biden Administration adopting California’s “government knows best” attitude. As the New York TimesNYT +0.4% reports, “the proposed regulation would synchronize federal action with a move by California to ban the sale of new gasoline-powered cars after 2035.”

California has long been the epicenter of government-imposed green mandates, but the state’s experience is not encouraging. For example, as a Pacific Research Institute report documents, state energy mandates impose a more than $2,000 burden on every Californian through higher gas and electricity costs and reduced economic output.
