1. WASHINGTON, Dec 15 (Reuters) - Taiwan will deepen economic ties with Lithuania in a "cycle of goodwill" as it faces pressure from Beijing, Taiwan's de facto ambassador to the United States said on Wednesday, after Lithuania's diplomatic delegation hastily departed China.

Beijing downgraded ties with Lithuania in November following Taiwan's opening of a representative office in the Baltic state's capital, and diplomatic sources told Reuters that 19 Lithuanian embassy personnel and their dependents had left Beijing on Wednesday in response to "intimidation."

"It is unfortunate that their diplomats are being intimidated," Hsiao Bi-khim, Taiwan's representative in Washington, told Reuters in an interview.....

What pressure! What intimidation! Using an analogy, if a woman reproaches her husband for engaging in extra-marital affairs, is she intimidating and applying pressure on her unfaithful spouse? Should any woman turn a blind eye to her husband's illicit affairs?

2. Asked if Taiwan still wanted the United States to allow it to symbolically upgrade the name of its presence in Washington from an economic and cultural office to a Taiwan representative office, Hsiao said: "It's the hope and dream of many people of Taiwan that we can be called by our normal, proper name, and it's something that we will continue to communicate with our American partners."

Hsiao Bi-khim, Taiwan's de facto ambassador to the US, should have said boldly and openly to the world instead: "It's the hope and dream of many people of Taiwan that the US will sever ties with the Chinese mainland in order to re-establish diplomatic relations with Taiwan."

Why have to go round the bush to express your wish? Why is Taiwan becoming so hopeless now, just keep existing without great ambition? It is high time for Taiwan to stop playing the role of "international mistress" (小三). Taiwan must press Uncle Sam to divorce "his wife" and marry her – “his mistress” -- with great pomp and ceremony. 🦊

3. As for Uncle Sam, my parting shot is: Please stop monkeying around like a Casanova. Either be faithful to “your wife” or “divorce” her. You can't have fun with “two women” at the same time. Stand up and show that you have the backbone to be a man. 🐢

It's the same advice to the UK, Lithuania, France and other "itchy" EU members: "You can't have fun with two. Choose either one or none!"
