Mexican National Executed In Texas After Supreme Court Denies Appeal

Wednesday's execution of a Mexican national in Texas revived a long-running diplomatic row between the United States and its southern neighbor.

Updated at 10:50 p.m. ET: Execution Carried Out

A Mexican man has been executed in Texas for killing a Houston police officer, despite pleas and diplomatic pressure from the Mexican government and the U.S. State Department to halt the punishment.

"Forty-six-year-old Edgar Tamayo received a lethal injection Wednesday evening for the January 1994 fatal shooting of 24-year-old Officer Guy Gaddis."

The Mexican government is mad, because Tamayo had never been informed of his right to ask the Mexican consulate for assistance after he was arrested.

In 2004, the International Court of Justice found for the Mexican government, and ordered the U.S. to review the cases of Tamayo and 50 other Mexican nationals that were then on death row. Tamayo's conviction was never reviewed. But they executed him anyway, in spite of the World Court's order. Mexico is not amused.

And I Support what Texas did. What the U.S did was retaliation for what Mexico did to an U.S Marine.

Mexico did the same thing. They didnt allow him inform of his right to ask the U.S consulate for assistance after he was arrested.

Yes two wrongs make a right

Everyone knows that

Anyone who takes pleasure in execution has mental health issues

Sounds like a step forward in legitimizing foreign relations with Mexico ...
