He spends millions to get leftist officials elected who will support the leftist US government that will open the government banks to reward leftist backers and supporters billions of dollars in grants, contracts, and gifts. Soros' dozens of tax-exempt feel-good-cause Open Society foundations are richly rewarded by government grants totaling tens of millions of dollars each year, from which sums he funds the candidacies of more leftists to keep the leftist government in business and the funding to his front foundations flowing.

To Soros, it is not so much about idealism as it is about getting rich off government ignorance and incompetence.
