BREAKING: Pres. Obama promises to make Bush tax cuts permanent

In his speech last night, President Obama announced that ALL families making less than $250,000/yr, "would not see their taxes increased a single dime" under his administration.

Recall that George W. Bush's tax cuts will expire in 2010. This is due to a clause Democrats forced to be included in the tax cuts, under threat of the Democrats defeating ALL the tax cuts by filibuster if the time limit wasn't put in. Many families making less than $250K, had their taxes reduced by those tax cuts, and faced their taxes being increased again due to the Democrats' time limit.

In what was probably the most encouraging part of Obama's speech, he promised them that no such increase would happen, except to families making OVER $250K, which is only a small fraction of the families involved.

Kudoes to President Obama. He is starting off on the right track. I fully support his initiative in this matter. And if he keeps on in this vein, I will consider voting for him in 2012.

"READ MY LIPS.....NO NEW TAXES!"

:p

Which caused a recession I might add. Funny how capitalism always works, and socialism always fails.

Not surprisingly I guess... you are completely wrong once again!:D

Bush senior actually called the Reagan economic plan of "trickel down or supply side only economics as "VOODOO ECONOMICS"!!! And he was absolutely right.

What happened was very, VERY similar to what has been dropped in President Obama's lap. A huge deficit spending President (Bush #43) has left office our economic problem is obvious.

Now I'll grant you Reagan was better at the timing of his collapse and pretty much skated out of town with the bottom to drop out in the senior Bush's lap. Bush #41 on the other hand, not so smart, had everything collapse during his total watch and control.

However your analogy is still only weak Republicant propaganda. It was actually your often spoke of pubbie hero Ronald Reagan that built up our last economic collapse not Bush senior.
:D

Now I'm not saying that this is going to happen in the US because your politicians are so much more honest and forthright and would never lead the electorate on...........uh huh.............. Just to remind you or indeed inform you! the British Labour Party and the Democratic Party "share ideas" and FYI our Labour politicians are a collection of lying bastards. Do you remember a chap called Tony Blair? Tony Blair was our dear Prime Minister and incidentally I understand he went down quite well in the states ........well he sure suckered you lot as well as the Brits. Anyway, one of his opening gambits as Prime Minister was to stand up in front of the Nation and say "No new taxes" ...... sounds familiar huh?..... well it was a lie because he is a politician and he also was a lying bastard.......

Being a politician is like being under arrest: anything you say will be taken down and may be used against you. In practice, this only applies when the politician's words turn out to have been wide of the mark - "Read my lips, no new taxes," for instance

So "no new taxes"....uh huh....lets explore that little myth shall we......

Stealth Tax is a term used for a tax levied in such a way that is largely unnoticed, or not recognized as a tax. Generally used in the UK by Conservatives to attack the New Labour government's policies. The phrase Stealth Tax should not be confused with double taxation or privatisation.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stealth_tax

the best example of this was..........

The best possible example of a stealth tax is the National Lottery. Because of the lure of huge jackpots, punters were willing in 1998-99 to subscribe £23bn, of which only 50 per cent went in prize money. This enabled the government to cream off 13 per cent in overt taxation and divert 28 per cent to "good causes".

Now as I say I am sure Mr. Obama and his team have no intention of scamming the dear people of the US, all I'm saying is.......

.........he's a Politician! Good luck with your stealth taxes ....
