1. Devastating floods in Germany have left more than 80 dead, including dozens in a single district, as Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed her deep sympathy for the victims of a “catastrophe” the scale of which will only be visible in the next days....

Speaking at the White House on a trip to Washington (in July 2021`), Merkel called the day “characterized by fear, despair, suffering, and hundreds of thousands of people suddenly faced disaster.”....

Standing by his side for a press conference after holding bilateral talks, US President Joe Biden called the flooding a tragedy.

“I want to express to you and the German people my sincere condolences and the condolences of the American people for the loss of life and the devastating destruction caused by the flooding of the past 24 hours in Germany and neighboring countries,” Biden said. .

2. If the self-declared "Messiah" were the incumbent president, he might accuse Germany of stealing American water and rainfall instead. The "Me First" ex-president has proved to be a faithful student of "My Peter" super economist whose favourite catchword is "steal". :)

Reservoir levels are dropping throughout the US West, as the drought tightens its grip on the region. Meanwhile, water levels of the Great Salt Lake in Utah could hit a 170-year low. While wildfires ravage large parts of Western US and Canada, extensive floods caused by torrential rains have devastated large parts of Western Europe.

Evaporation occurs at any temperature. As water continues to evaporate for long periods without falling back as rainfall to the region, the residents may wonder where all the water has gone. It has definitely not gone to heaven or the outer space.

What goes up must come down. Hence it is just a matter of time that the tons of water that have disappeared into the thin air will reappear somewhere sometime as torrential rains that cause extensive floods in large areas. Unfortunately the much-needed precious water often pours on the wrong places at the wrong time otherwise this planet would be a better place for mankind.

Deadly floods in central China and raging wildfires in northeastern Siberia

3. Large swathes of China’s central Henan province were under water on Wednesday, with at least a dozen people dead in its capital Zhengzhou after the city was drenched by what weather watchers said was the heaviest rain in 1,000 years.

With more rain forecast across Henan for the next three days, the government of Zhengzhou, a city of over 12 million on the banks of the Yellow River, said 12 people were reported to have died in a flooded subway line, while more than 500 were pulled to safety.

Video on social media on Tuesday showed commuters chest-deep in murky floodwaters on a train in the dark and an underground station turned into a large, churning pool....

From the evening of Saturday until late Tuesday, 617.1 millimetres (mm) of rain fell in Zhengzhou, about 650 km (400 miles) southwest of Beijing. That’s almost on par with Zhengzhou’s annual average of 640.8 mm.

The amount of rainfall in Zhengzhou witnessed over the three days was one seen only “once in a thousand years”, local media cited meteorologists as saying.

The lives of millions of people in Henan, a province with a population of around 100 million, have been upended in an unusually active rainy season that has led to the rapid rise of a number of rivers in the vast Yellow River basin....

4. MOSCOW (AP) — Heavy smoke from raging wildfires covered the Russian city of Yakutsk and 50 other Siberian towns and settlements Sunday, temporarily halting operations at the city’s airport.

Russia has been plagued by widespread forest fires, blamed on unusually high temperatures and the neglect of fire safety rules, with the Sakha-Yakutia region in northeastern Siberia being the worst affected.

Local emergency officials said 187 fires raged in the region on Sunday, and the total area engulfed by blazes has grown by 100,000 hectares (about 247,000 acres) in the past 24 hours.....

5. Once again, the extreme weather conditions in two distant parts of the world have proved my theory which is based on science and simple logic.

"What goes up must come down. Hence it is just a matter of time that the tons of water which have evaporated into the atmosphere over long periods of heatwave, drought or wildfires will condense somewhere sometime as torrential rains, causing deadly floods in large areas."

Let us look at the simple scientific principles behind the theory:

(a) Evaporation occurs at any temperature.

(b) In the past when a person felt a gust of air on his face, he would regard it as a breeze released by a wind god. Many polytheistic religions have one or more wind gods. Thus the ancient Greeks believed the winds were ruled by a group of gods called the Anemoi.

The goddess of wind in Chinese mythology is Feng Po Po ( 风婆婆 ) who rules over storms and moisture. She is referred to as "Madame Wind", and is usually depicted as a crone, old and wrinkled. Feng Po Po can be seen riding through the clouds on the back of a tiger which represents courage and bravery signifying her importance in Chinese mythology.

Just like liquid, the gases (including water vapour) in the atmosphere are fluids that do not have a definite volume. Most people think we live in a world of void or emptiness but in actuality we are residing in an "ocean of gases". Like the water in the ocean, the gases (including water vapour) in the atmosphere keep flowing from one place to another.

At the moment, science fails to predict the exact place and time the next flood will occur. However, science can predict the CERTAINTY OF TORRENTIAL RAINS AND FLOODS somewhere sometime when a prolonged period of heatwave, drought or wildfires occurs at any part of the globe. As more water evaporates, it is just a matter of time the tons of water that have evaporated into the atmosphere will return to the earth as torrential rains, hopefully in the right place at the right time.

If you remain sceptical about my theory, the world is a wide open laboratory to prove it in due course.

6. Let us look at three scientific laws before going deeper into my simple theory.

(i) The law of conservation of mass (also known as the "law of indestructibility of matter") states that matter is neither created nor destroyed in a chemical reaction.

(ii) The law of conservation of energy states that energy can neither be created nor be destroyed, although it may be transformed from one form to another.

(iii) The law of conservation of momentum states that the momentum of a system is constant if no external forces are acting on the system. It is embodied in Newton’s First Law or The Law of Inertia.

7. When we look at some regions stricken by prolonged drought, heatwave or raging wildfires without rainfall for long periods, we may wonder whether there is a break in the water cycle.

Most people think we are living in a world of void or emptiness but in actuality we are residing in an "ocean" of nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, water vapour and other gases. It is just a matter of time that the huge amount of water evaporated from a drought-stricken region will return to earth, either in the same spot but most often in another place, as torrential rains causing extensive floods.

I hereby call my simple theory "the law of indestructibility of water cycle” which states that the water cycle keeps going all the time, and the global amount of water, either in liquid or gaseous form, remains constant as long as planet Earth exists.
