I don't believe that they don't understand where their policies have led the country. They are not stupid people.

I question what their "real" endgame is.

I spend a lot of time in Indonesia and virtually everyone lacks the skill of projecting the consequences of a series of actions. For example, a young girl doesn't like school, so she drops out. With no skill, no good job. So they marry some guy who is equally poor and he treats her like shit. Inability to project the consequences of your decisions.

The US has a large number of people who think the same way. They can't understand that a generous social welfare program is going to a) be a disincentive to work, and b) shift the tax burden to people who are working and productive. These consequences of an expensive welfare program will cause the government to accrue debt and eventually the whole system will collapse.

As a footnote: these people are not stupid - they can learn a second language if they live in a mixed neighborhood. They just lack the power of projective reasoning.

I think you are being much too kind when it comes to our leftist politicians and their intentions. I find it hard to believe they are incapable of reason.

Big Ears is certainly not a dumb man. He must know the welfare state has been a failure, yet he persists to fund it even more and even dumped Clinton's reforms. He may think the solution is to spend more on welfare, to make it work, which many would consider foolish.

To Cruella's point, we have to wonder about the power elite's intentions. There are those who believe their real endgame is to irreparably destroy America, so as to remake it into a socialist paradise (aka shit-hole).
