Not really. Laws restrict gun ownership in Japan severely, and the number of gun deaths in Japan per year is minuscule. Even in Canada and Australia, the number of gun deaths is far lower than in the US. But there are far too many guns in circulation in the US for there to be any solution to this problem. We are doomed by our own stupidity.

There have been a number of gun restrictions placed, and in some of the placed (very notably Hawall) gun crimes have declined. But there is NO WAY to compare the crime rate before the regulations with those that might have occurred had they not passed. Crime depends on the age and wealth of the population which can be quite variable.
