Here’s one line that President Barack Obama might want to rewind: “Under my plan … electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.”

That quip from a January 2008 interview with the San Francisco Chronicle editorial board is making the rounds in conservative circles — even Mitt Romney referred to it last month – and it likely won’t go away anytime soon.

“If somebody wants to build a coal-fired power plant, they can. It’s just that it will bankrupt them,” Obama said, responding to a question about his cap-and-trade plan. He later added, “Under my plan … electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.”

Obama was not capable of rising or lowering utility rates. No president can do that, or ever has done that. He was simply stating the truth. And rates have been raised, so he was correct in his prediction.

Gas, oil and coal fired utilities are allied with Big Oil, Big Gas and Big Coal. If you look at an annual report, you will see that the same directors that are on utility company boards of directors are often on the boars of directors of oil, gas and coal companies, as well as pipeline companies and others in the energy business.

Big oil keeps poor people's cars running. Democrats are stupid for attacking the basic needs of poor Americans.
