Government Deregulation

We are still far from being a socialist nation... our problem is our Democracy is broken. We elect people to office who don't understand basic concepts - like if you are going to spend money, you gotta pay the bills.

And the underlying problem is the people who vote for these fools we send to Washington again and again, year after year. Most voters have no idea what their elected representative really thinks and does in Washington. These voters don't even follow politics and vote the way some neighbor tells them to. They vote a straight ticket. They have no idea about the influence lobbyists, special interest groups and corporations have in Washington.

Our voters are uninformed (stupid) and are happy when government gives them something. We need a simple test to see if a voter is qualified... like... "What State does George Bush come from". Something basic.
It’s the culture.. we set by and allowed to be created. We have been trying to fight this battle every four years at the voting booth. It is long past time we admit that is not where the battle really is. We stood by and let the liberals take control of our culture.. starting back in the 1960s. And now our largest primary social institutions, education, the media, Hollywood entertainment have become really nothing more than an assembly line for cranking out reliable little liberal elites. Furthermore, we have allowed the government to undermine the institutions that instill good character – marriage, the family, communities, schools, our churches. So, here we are, at least two full generations later... we are reaping what we have sown. It took nearly fifty years to get here; it's going to take a long time to get back. But it starts with the determination to reclaim education first. If we fail to do that, we can kiss every election goodbye from here on out. And much more. America has become a nation of children... The real loser in this election was adulthood.. Maturity. Responsibility. The understanding that liberty must be accompanied by self restraint. Obama is a spoiled child, and the behavior and language of his followers and their advertisements throughout the campaign makes it clear how many of them are, as well...At least Romney was an adult... Romney should have won. Those of us who expected him to win assumed that voters would act like grownups. Because if we were a nation of grownups, he would have won.

We need a reluctance to purport that we know the will of God. That said, we do not hold the values we do because they garner votes. We hold the values we do because we believe that they are time-tested principles without which a civilized, free and prosperous society is not possible We defend the unborn because we understand that a society which views some lives as expendable is capable of viewing all lives as expendable. We defend family – mothers, fathers, marriage, children – because history makes it quite clear that societies without intact families quickly descend into anarchy and barbarism, and we have plenty of proof of that in our inner cities where marriage is infrequent and unwed motherhood approaches 80 percent. When Roe v. Wade was decided in 1973, many thought that the abortion cause was lost. Forty years later, ultrasound technology has demonstrated the inevitable connection between science and morality. More Americans than ever define themselves as “pro-life.” What is tragic is that tens of millions of children have lost their lives while Americans figure out what should have been obvious before. There is no GIVING UP ON SOCIAL ISSUES .We found out a long time ago..if we give an inch..we can't give enough, they alway's want more... We have to fight this battle on the education front . Our children and grandchildren are our best hope...

i have to disagree on the unedcated part.

i believe they understand all too well thst if a pol.says he will rob peter to psy paul that a vote from all the pauls is a nobrainer.

Yes our culture has been destroyed from within by the elite Left. We can see this, but amazingly many rank and file Ds and moderates do not. We have discussed the current situation of African Americans many times. All the social dysfunction that exists in the black community is rapidly spreading to all communities. The consequences of this will be dire for our country. The left elite who control our government and institutions want this dysfunction and promote it daily.

If one looks at where the black community was in 1950 and where it is today, one has to conclude that this social experiment has gone terribly wrong.

Many say America is more divided today than since the Civil War. I would tend to agree. Something is going to happen and it likely is not going to be pretty.

The great Walter Williams touches on culture in his column today. He nails it as usual. Of course, many of our problems today are directly the fault of liberalism. Yet liberalism continues to destroy everything it touches and little is said. In a sane nation, it would be roundly condemned.

When I attended primary and secondary school – during the 1940s and '50s – one didn't hear of the kind of shooting mayhem that's become routine today. Why? It surely wasn't because of strict firearm laws. My replica of the 1902 Sears mail-order catalog shows 35 pages of firearm advertisements. People just sent in their money, and a firearm was shipped.
Dr. John Lott, author of More Guns, Less Crime, reports that until the 1960s, some New York City public high schools had shooting clubs where students competed in citywide shooting contests for university scholarships. They carried their rifles to school on the subways and, upon arrival, turned them over to their homeroom teacher or the gym coach and retrieved their rifles after school for target practice. Virginia's rural areas had a long tradition of high-school students going hunting in the morning before school and sometimes storing their rifles in the trunks of their cars that were parked on school grounds. Often a youngster's 12th or 14th birthday present was a shiny new .22-caliber rifle, given to him by his father.
Today's level of civility can't match yesteryear's. Many of today's youngsters begin the school day passing through metal detectors. Guards patrol school hallways, and police cars patrol outside. Despite these measures, assaults, knifings and shootings occur. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, in 2010 there were 828,000 nonfatal criminal incidents in schools. There were 470,000 thefts and 359,000 violent attacks, of which 91,400 were serious. In the same year, 145,100 public-school teachers were physically attacked, and 276,700 were threatened.
What explains today's behavior versus yesteryear's? For well over a half-century, the nation's liberals and progressives – along with the education establishment, pseudo-intellectuals and the courts – have waged war on traditions, customs and moral values. These people taught their vision, that there are no moral absolutes, to our young people. To them, what's moral or immoral is a matter of convenience, personal opinion or a consensus.
During the '50s and '60s, the education establishment launched its agenda to undermine lessons children learned from their parents and the church with fads such as "values clarification." So-called sex education classes are simply indoctrination that sought to undermine family and church strictures against premarital sex. Lessons of abstinence were ridiculed and considered passé and replaced with lessons about condoms, birth control pills and abortions. Further undermining of parental authority came with legal and extralegal measures to assist teenage abortions with neither parental knowledge nor consent.

Boy, regardless of the topic, you guys degenerate it into a string of nonsensical rambling. You're welcome to your beliefs, but they exist in a parallel universe that has little to do with reality. And you're welcome to stick to that reality, though it will always exist in the ether while the real world spins around over here. This whole "liberals are destroying our solid American Values" silliness has been around since the 60's kicked in, and I'm sure you'll all be spouting it from your wheelchairs and retirement homes and it will be no more effective then.

The basic problems of humanity have existed long before the word "liberal" ever did. Greed is not unique to liberals. The desire for power, the desire to hoard as much of it as possible, that is not a "liberal" invention. If you want to tell each other that the "liberal elite" has taken over, go ahead. Believe in your conspiracies- after all, that's what the internet is for, to allow such ramblings to live on forever. Any possibly valid points you might have are so undermined by your complete ignorance, what with your thoughts on the "African American Experiment", abortion, and the "liberal elite" that you automatically disqualify yourselves from being taken seriously by anyone with half a working brain.

We agree that the current system is broken. That seems to be about it. You clearly have no interest in examining your beliefs, questioning your assumptions or educating yourselves. I've spent a lot of time showing you that our government has nothing to do with liberals and progressives, that its actions in no way reflect any kind of liberal agenda, but it doesn't matter- you're convinced that it does, and no bout of logic or fact is going to get in the way of that.

So enjoy your ranting while you can. There's enough of you here to keep posting the same opinions back and forth to each other like an eternal ping pong match. The fact is, I was the only one bothering to listen to you and now I realize why no one else does. You can't reason with insanity!

I like your post..your full of yourself ..But I liked it...now tell us again how blacks are better off today..tell me again how my thoughts on abortion are wrong..tell us all how well you ideas are working..and above all tell me why your arrogant rant should carry any more eight than mine..you are correct about the insanity issue..i feel ythe same way...Thanks

Yeah and bobbyjimmy please tell us what socialism is in your mind and explain how wonderful it is.

Also bobbyjimmy....American culture up to about 1960 was fairly stable. By that I mean families, marriage, church, institutions, etc. We did not have a problem with unwed mothers, drugs, gangs, generations on government assistance, and of course mass shootings by deranged young men. The great Walter Williams, who apparently you are not aware is extraordinarily intelligent, blames liberalism for this change. He makes a valid point that liberalism has adversely affected our culture, schools, institutions.

Look at any inner city in America today where the population is mostly African American. These areas have been completely controlled and infected by liberalism. And the people have been destroyed by it. I don't know how you can fail to see that. Can you explain what has caused the terrible condition of African Americans? Keeping in mind that in 1950, under segregation mind you, more blacks were married, raising children, church going, and employed than whites on a per capita basis.

Gipp..Back to our Kids..Reagan gave a warning, that unless Americans taught each new generation what it means to be an American, we risk losing our memory as a nation – and along with it – the American spirit. Reagan’s words ring so true today. Instead of teaching that America is an exceptional nation that has been the greatest force for good in the history of the world – our schools, universities, media, and even political leaders more often focus only on the perceived failures in American History. What Reagan warned against has happened to a great extent – America has lost her memory, and with it, our commitment to the principles that have made America the greatest nation on earth.

You guys are hilarious and lucky I'm not working this week. I can indulge you a little more if you wish.

Yeah and bobbyjimmy please tell us what socialism is in your mind and explain how wonderful it is.
This is the last time I will tell you I am not endorsing socialism. I am telling you that socialism is not a threat to our country. It does not exist in Washington. No one in our government is a socialist. The only god they serve is money, and they are willing to bend over any which way as long as they get paid. Whatever evils you think of socialism, they are not in effect here. You're living in a dream world with a straw man as an enemy, which keeps you and all the other libertarians and tea party fools busy chasing and complaining while the rich continue to plunder this country and world. They are more than happy to let you believe socialism is destroying America, because it keeps you from paying attention to their actions.

American culture up to about 1960 was fairly stable. By that I mean families, marriage, church, institutions, etc.

The 1960's, socially, had lots of problems. Different ones, but not lesser ones, than today. The whole 60's cultural revolution came about as a reaction to the problems of this generation, because they weren't being addressed. Be logical. Think about it. If the early 60's were so great, there would be no need to rebel. I'm not saying what came after is better, I'm saying it is different. It solved some problems and created others. You can say that less people divorced back then, and that now families are broken up. But I can tell you that couples didn't talk about their issues, they kept everything bottled up and under the table, accepting their fate as being stuck with each other until death did them part. Nowadays people actually take action and decide not to be together rather than resign themselves to a lifetime of sublimated misery. I'm not saying it's better or worse, only different. In some cases, people have gotten divorced, learned something from the experience, and remarried into a much healthier and happier relationship. They would tell you that they are glad they live in a culture where they are not looked down upon for getting divorced. The church, as I can point out with countless news articles, wasn't exactly perfect in the 60's either -it's just that scandals were kept quiet and under the table. I'm not saying that every priest was going around molesting kids- I realize that, for the most part, they served a useful role in the community. But there were plenty of issues that they chose to deal with by ignoring, which hurt and destroyed many lives. There are plenty of books written by plenty of victims of that world- hardly the glittering utopia you remember. If America had done a good job of addressing the needs of its people, there would have been no revolution. Revolutions are a reaction to something- no one is going to support a revolution if they're happy and content. The fact that you can't see this, 40 years later, shows your lack of perspective on reality.

I would love to see your "facts" on this. Clearly, you don't know very many black people. I can guarantee you that if you ask 500 random African Americans "would you rather be living in the 1950's or today?" they are going to tell you "today". If you ask 5000, you'll get the same response. In fact, by an insanely overwhelming majority, NO ONE is going to tell you they'd like to be taken back to 1950. I won't go so far as to call you racist because I don't know you, but you are certainly ignorant. Incredibly, incredibly ignorant. Liberals don't run the show, Socialists are not in the government and African Americans are not secretly wishing they lived in 1950 America. Keep digging yourself into a hole!

The greatest racial disrespect you can show anybody is to create a system of power by which you tell them they can't make it on their own; so the dependency is in place and look at the yield... 96% vote democratic and they have the highest drop out rate, highest per capita drug addiction, highest per capita jail, highest rate of black on black violent crime. Yet the liberal politicians are all smiles though they have virtually destroyed an entire class of citizens that they disrespect by calling them too weak to make it on their own. I believe in absolute equality no nepotism, no affirmative action; you meet the requirements and you get the job. There is no room for racism in our society especially the long standing racisms of the democratic party....

You have completely misrepresented my post. And you claim I do not read your posts.

First, I stated up to 1960....do you comprehend what that means. Let me explain. It does not include the 1960s, which your rant discusses nonsensically.

And again you fail to understand that Liberalism is the fault of much of our nations decline. But I do agree that much of the political class is merely in it for the money and power and they are just as responsible as liberalism.

Second....you misrepresent my comments on African Americans of 1950. Asking African Americans of today to go back to 1950 is ignorant and not applicable to our debate, but you think this somehow applies to my comments. Why?

Are you admitting you do not KNOW the stats on blacks in 1950, which I cited? Geez I knew that in the 1980s...we need to get you caught up my friend.

Most black people vote Democratic because they are the party that will rape them less; it has nothing to do with liberalism and everything to do with the fact that Republicans are more likely to cut social programs black people so desperately need. You conveniently ignore the fact that the reason so many black people are in the state that they're in is due to generations of inequality that left them poor, uneducated, stripped of their history, culture and self-esteem. Your "I believe in absolute equality..." speech is hypocritical. Think of it this way- let's say you and I are going to race 100 yards. But before we start the race, my grandfather shoots off both your legs and cut out your eyes. Then some bleeding-heart liberal in the crowd yells "hey, that's not fair! You should give that guy a head start! He's got no legs!" and I say "hey, that all happened in the past, I had nothing to do with it, stop whining. Right now, it's just him versus me. I don't believe in affirmative action or any handouts- let's run this race as equal men."

You might think the analogy is extreme, but that's pretty much exactly the situation we're in now. You can not reasonably expect people who are at a severe disadvantage to get themselves out of the hole they've been put in without some help. To ignore history and just pretend you're all about what's fair is hypocritical. You want to paint liberals as just wanting to create a state of dependency in which poor people remain poor, but that's not what liberals want. It might be what our politicians want since it keeps the masses from becoming too powerful, but anyone with a shred of compassion and understanding of the situation wants to help empower people via social programs that build up the skills and education they are lacking in order to survive. The very "progressives" you despise are the only people out there in the trenches day after day working underpaid jobs in inner cities purely because they believe in a better tomorrow. And it has nothing to do with being black. There are plenty of poor white communities in this country in the exact same boat and with the same exact statistics- unemployed, ignorant, school dropouts, in and out of jails... this behavior goes hand in hand with anyone growing in that situation. Yes, there are always exceptions and success stories of individuals who, for one reason or another were able to grow out of that situation, just like there are stories of people born rich and wealthy who somehow manage to end up in the gutter- but by and large, this is not the pattern. The right-wing, republican ethos of "pull yourself up by your bootstraps the way my grandfather did" conveniently ignores facts, history, and reality and is always chanted by those who never had to live what those folks do. Why would you want to claim this is the work of liberal politicians when it is the work of hundreds of years of oppression by the haves over the have-nots? It has nothing to do with republicans, democrats, conservatives or liberals.

blacks were making huge advances via family unity and education. the came the Great Society and the family structure was shattered. and education became "acting white" and the slavery was complete. better still they now count as 5/5ths instead of 3/5ths.

and they get it now and have learned to vote for free stuff.
