If spending were to increase every year for ten years, would liberals still say they "cut" it?

Liberals (in both parties) have this strange habit of deciding they will increase spending next year, and then calling it a "spending cut" because the increase isn't quite as big as they expected. It's a feat of doublespeak that Orwell would admire.

Are they going to do that again in these talks on avoiding the "Fiscal Cliff"?

They need to start going backwards on spending. This whole fiscal cliff argument is a joke.

If the liberals can plan a 15% spending increase, and then later revise it to only a 10% increase and say they "cut" spending by 5%....

...then can conservatives plan for a 20% tax rate cut, then later revise it to only a 15% tax rate cut, and announce they have increased tax rates by 5%?

I know..... it is a stupid game, but it seems to play well with the low information voters.
