According to the article linked in the OP Bachmann was technically telling the truth. She said she was late in part because of the reunion but never said that she was there. Apparently she really did meet with family and arranged for her husband and kids to go to the reunion I have no doubt that on a busy campaign trail everything that happens effects every other thing on the itinerary. The real contradiction here is the headline of the article and the text within it.
