let's hold Joe the plumber responsible and crucify him, but lets let most of the dem appointeess off the hook when it comes to taxes.

Great plan. Maybe if he had a better example "by government" he would pay his taxes.

He's just trying to do what anyone else would do, is make money off his experience.

No doubt everybody should pay their taxes... but 2 things jump to mind when it comes to that huge Republicant brain trust called Joe The Plumber...

First: I'm guessin' with his 30-40K yearly earnings his taxes aren't exactly the Divinci Code to figure out.:D

Secondly: Unlike the more complicated tax issues you cite THEY ALL DID COME FORWARD AND PAY THEIR EXTRA TAXES IN FULL PLUS ANY INTEREST & PENALTIES... Joe's too busy flying over to Israel (just another place where he's totally clueless) giving international foreign policy advice.:eek:

I mean hate the Democratic Party all you want but to pretend Joe The Plumber isn't his own little reality TV train wreck says to me you're really just trying to defend the Republicant Party & one more of it's freaky sideshows.

 
If you remember, the dems appointed to cabinet postiions didn't even get penalites or interest added. And they all waited to pay their taxes until they were appointed and were going to be in the lime light.

I don't really care about Joe the plumber. but to use him as an example and crucify him when so many other important people... even people who are going to be responsible for collecting taxes don't pay. you gotta give people a fair shake.

lots of people pay back, back taxes without pentalty as well you act like is some new thing that only is done for them/
 
yes, but those people in public office, who are making policy and expecting everyone to abide by those policies. They should set an example.

yes, and they paid...or do you think those in public office should be punished for the fact they hold public office and not given the same treatment? If you can show that they did it on purpose...then fine go after them, but tax mistakes are easy to make, as the tax code is to complicated. Fact is most tax preparers don't' even fully understand it, let alone anyone else. I have made mistakes , most I know have on taxes...on average most actually cost the taxpayer not the government, but it goes both ways.

And keep in mind I did not attack Palin for her tax issue as well.
 
yes. But the mere fact that Geithner was going to be in charge of collecting taxes and enforcing tax code makes no sense. And the reason his appointment passed was because "he was uniquely qualified"

give me a break.

I think politicians know the rules. If not, there are plenty of smart people in washington they can ask. Hell the IRS is there, why not just pick up the freakin phone. That's what the rest of us are expected.

Accountability on these issues should be for everyone.
 
Shaman, You are good of finding examples of the opposite party. But my claim has been the govt as a whole. Not just the current Admin. Which, btw, is sucking real bad right now.

I have yet to see you bring to light problems with Obama and his truthfulness. We know there are lots of them.
