Even Paul (The Commie Lib) Krugman NOW agrees that DEATH PANELS will be necessary after he savaged Palin for her comments. Of course, her's were before the Obummer HC vote and he needed to keep the USEFUL IDIOTS in line long enough to get social shi**ty HC.

Real Death Panels Are Coming Our Way

NEW YORK Paul Krugman, Nobel Prize winner in economics and an influential New York Times columnist, also has a blog, "The Conscience of a Liberal." On ABC's "This Week" (Nov. 14), during a discussion on balancing the federal budget against alarming deficits, he proclaimed the way to solve this problem is through deeply cost-effective health care rationing.

"Some years down the pike," he said, "we're going to get the real solution, which is going to be a combination of death panels and sales taxes." That would mean the U.S. Debt Reduction Commission "should have endorsed the panel that was part of the [Obama] health care reform."

Sarah Palin was one of the first, and the most resounding, to warn us of the coming of government panels to decide which of us -- especially, but not exclusively, toward the end of life -- would cost too much to survive.

She was mocked, scorned from sea to shining sea, including by the eminent Paul Krugman for being, he said, among those spreading "the death penalty lie" as part of "the lunatic fringe." (Summarized in "Krugman Wants 'Death Panels,'" Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, Nov. 15.)

Soon after he had left the ABC studio, someone must have alerted Krugman that -- gee whiz -- he had publicly rooted for death panels!

Swiftly, on his blog, Krugman admitted he had indeed said those dreaded words, but:

"What I meant is that health care costs will have to be controlled, which will surely require having Medicare and Medicaid decide what they're willing to pay for -- not really death panels, of course, but consideration of medical effectiveness and, at some point, how much we're willing to spend for extreme care."

"Extreme care," Professor Krugman? To be defined by government commissions, right?

Noel Sheppard of media watchdog Newsbusters was not fooled by the professor's attempt to extricate himself from embarrassment.

"As the government has deep budgetary problems," Sheppard reminded Krugman, "the cost-benefit analysis will naturally morph toward financial restraint thereby further limiting a patient's options and therefore his or her rights."

Are these Obamacare cost-benefit boards and commissions -- for example, the so-called Independent Payment Advisory Board penetratingly judging Medicare's cost-effectiveness (without judicial review) -- not going to determine whether certain Americans are going to continue living?

'Fess up, Krugman, you owe Sarah Palin an apology for so often scandal-mongering her. Also, professor, aside from the abortion wars, don't most Americans agree that the most fundamental of all our rights is the right to life? Not the government's right to our lives.

How ironic this will be...

I can see a DF liberal as he faces the Death Panel with his life threatening disease. And, the intolerant liberal government bureaucrat panel says, "Sorry dude, we can't give you any further care. Go home and die."

Imagine his surprise!!! hahahahahahahahahaha

SUCKERS!!!

Paul Krugman has pointed to the harsh realities of our own social-welfare state. Idealistic welfare-state liberals would simply like to provide for everyone's needs. The reality of scarcity means that we must ration state-provided goods. If we are to avoid national bankruptcy and provide publicly financed medical coverage, some bureaucrats will have to assume positions on "death panels" and decide when to deny funding of medical care. Kindhearted people will not be able to do this job. High-minded idealists will not be able to do this job.

Fears regarding death panels are warranted because the only people really able to do this job are the last ones we should want making these decisions. Death panels are at the terminus of our own road to serfdom. Paul Krugman has simply taken a hard look into the abyss of our social-welfare bureaucracy and seen its true nature. The only question is whether he finds this dismal result acceptable or inevitable.

Comrade Stalin

the death panel is your wallet

The empty space is between your ears.:D

SUCKERS!

The “Death Panels” get liberals hackles up more than the thought of “rationing” healthcare.

But let’s be real. Given limited resources and government funding, at some point your healthcare will be the subject of a cost/benefit analysis by a government bureaucrat.

Now here’s the funny thing: it is already happening.

We posted on this earlier, but the clip over 3 minutes and 30 seconds.

For those of you who have radio shows, etc. and want to run this, I’ve pared down this news story to a manageable 1 minute and 28 second segment.

You can easily catch what’s going on — a lady’s doctor recommends she get medical treatment. The state run healthcare system says no and refers her to an assisted suicide specialist. The bureaucrat in charge of what amounts to a real death panel admits that the money could be better spent elsewhere, so the patient is going to have to die.

It is an inevitable fact of life that the more the government outlays to keep you alive, the more your life becomes subject to a cost/benefit analysis.

sneaking end-of-life consultations into obamacare

by: Examiner editorial 12/27/10 8:05 pm

during the debate over obamacare last year, controversy erupted over a medicare provision related to end-of-life consultations with doctors. Following well-publicized criticism from former alaska gov. Sarah palin concerning government "death panels," the provision was promptly dropped. but now the new york times reports that it has been resurrected in new medicare regulations. there is both a right and a wrong reason to be outraged about this. Some have responded with the charged term coined by palin, but this criticism is misplaced in the present instance. "death panel" is entirely justified when used in reference to another provision of obamacare -- the independent payment advisory board -- whose members will attempt to save money by making one-size-fits-all recommendations for skimping on care protocols and treatment regimes, particularly for older patients.
