Well ...considering all the rampant PC BS that goes on in public schools today, in my opinion this is a form of indoctrination, from students not being allowed to wear pro America or pro military clothing to schools having little children sing praises to the messiah.

Another example would be the teachers encouraging their students to skip class and protest (being "loud" for gov. approved causes) for liberal agendas, like they did in Wisconsin over Gov. Walker.

So, based on two actions by teachers out of millions of classrooms all over the country, your opinion is that public schools are more about indoctrination than anything else?

That seems to me to be an outrageous generalization, at least, that's my opinion.

I thought that would be your response .... liberals always put their ideologies ahead of any obvious facts but, the reality is there are literally decades of data to support my "opinions" about public education's failures "in general" in this Country.

I have not the time to post all the many examples for you nor do I believe any amount facts would change your mind.

Ideology first .... facts matter not .... it's the liberal way!

Liberals want to worship a messianic figure like Obama because like infants they put their trust in Princes. There is a Biblical wisdom literature that anybody can learn from, even atheists, because wisdom is wisdom. "Put not your trust in Princes" is a very wise and practical saying. There are Chinese wisdom sayings and Buddhist ones that are celebrated by liberals, which is fine. It's just odd that they ignore the vast number Western and Biblical wisdom sayings, because traditional religion is now bad. Except for the "religion of peace" of course.

Liberal belief is a very odd thing. Conservatives tend to pursue reality wherever it leads, even if it shows some pretty bad things about some people. Conservatives can keep track of the bad guys,evenwhen they change their hats. Liberals can't figure it out. They are the useful idiots, as Vladimir Lenin said, because they yearn to believe. A large part of the State of California standards (what every public school is required to teach) includes "critical thinking skills", which is bureautospeak for teaching things like how to separate fact from opinion, cause and effect, and such logical fallacies as generalizing from a few examples.

From two examples, you have concluded that public schools are more about indoctrination than anything else, and yet the admittedly liberal state of California requires that skills that make indoctrination more difficult be taught.

So ... parents that raise and educate their own children how they see fit in the privacy of their own homes even if it is a Christian based learning environment is "frightening?"

You do realized the 1st Amendment to the US Constitution gives them the Right to Religious Freedom, don't you? Of course you do!

I think what is really frightening is how extremist leftist have no regard for the US Constitution and would rather force parents to "indoctrinate" children to their "radical views" rather than afford them the Freedoms and Liberties that are guaranteed to Americans under the US Constitution.

Kids are guaranteed all of that in California public schools, according to an obviously slanted blog? My kids both went to California schools, and neither of them received any of those guarantees.

I was, however, expected to teach kids to understand what they read, to do basic math, and to write a paragraph that made some sense, along with those "critical thinking skills" mentioned above. Have things really changed that much in the past couple of years?

My kids are grown and out of school. So I was early on in what's been happening currently. We had a great little community neighborhood. The primary grades were fine, but I could see things going south in the middle schools. That's when I yanked mine out and sent them to private, with much sacrafice to the family. I'm now a big advocate for private/home schooling.

I didn't say that "nothing like that ever happens in California. Obviously, it does. I did say that your conclusion:

" think public schools are more about indoctrination than anything else."

was based on broad generalizations from a handful of instances. You further my opinion by posting a picture of flags improperly flown by students from a neighboring school during a protest of immigration reform. Had the school officials flown the flags as shown, you would have one outrageous example to draw your generalization from, but it didn't happen that way, did it?

As are so many other parents around the Country. Considering everything one reads in the news today about how PC public schools are becoming across the Country, one would have to be truly and deliberately uninformed to not see the future of public education and the direction the federal government is taking it.

I am sure home schooling will become increasing under attack in the near future. It is already under attack there in CA.
