Many Israeli Jews are actually atheists and do not believe that God gave Jews title to the real estate. Still, they were born there and are citizens. Palestinians believe that it is their country because their grandparents lived there for centuries until driven off by the 1947 and later wars.

Some Palestinians are Christians. It is easier for them to find a place to immigrate to than it is for Muslims, with the US, Canada and Australia being places they tend most to immigrate to.

In any event, both sides think that they are the rightful inhabitants and neither side has the ability to force the other to leave or to exterminate them.
