Mr. President:

You have inherited the worst recession in recent memory, perhaps the worst since the great depression, two wars, Islamic fundamentalism in the Middle East, yet another war between the Israelis and Hamas, out of control government spending, a losing struggle in the war on drugs, and a failing health care system. Soon, your detractors will have to admit that you are not a Muslim terrorist, a Marxist, or the Anti Christ, even though there will be some who won't be convinced regardless of what may happen. Your supporters will have a hard time convincing anyone that you're the messiah, that you actually have the power to solve the intractable problems besetting this nation, or that your policies are all that much different from those of the previous administration.

Imagine the letdown when both extremes face up to the fact that you are a human being, a politician of far more than average ability in that field, but a politician nonetheless. Of course, the most extreme will still cry that you're a devil or an angel, but those cries will mostly fall on deaf ears.

You do have an enormous amount of political capital, both domestic and foreign. How far that will take you in convincing the rest of us to do what must be done to begin to solve the problems we face is yet to be determined.

At least we do now have a leader who does not suborn torture, who has some credibility with our allies and enemies alike, and who may be able to inspire people to work together. We have a leader who may, just by example, inspire black youth to higher aspirations and take some credibility from the voices telling them that their problems are caused by white prejudice. We have a leader who speaks English well.

Maybe your most fervent supporters will be not the black community, but the teachers of English.

And the losers will be the writers of political humor. They will miss your predecessor.

Good luck to you. Both you and the nation will need it.

Allow me to respond for his majesty:

Dear PLC1,

Thank you, for uh, the uh, uh, kind words....uh.

I look forward to inundating you with words such as "change" and "hope" for years to come, when I really have no clue what hope there is of change, and that's why I've brought back democrats that were closely linked to the Clintons. I like to think of it as "comfort cabinet", much like the "comfort food" I used to enjoy back in Hawaii (not Kenya!).

Anyways, again thanks for your support, and if you get a chance, visit the link below and make change happen for millions of welfare recipients.

lol. How funny. Supposedly the policitcal humor writers are going to lose, yet Obama couldn't even get through his inauguration without giving humor fodder.

Here is what Obama really responded with

''PLC, many thanks for your kind and wise words.

Did you like the way I thanked W for the handover and then proceeded to use his policies as a blue print for what not to do? And did you see his face? Priceless.

Now, I know it is a tough job ahead of me but I figure that if I just do the exact opposite of what Bush did I won't go far wrong and as a result America will be richer, more peaceful, more equal and less hated.

Regards
BHO

Bravo, I agree mostly , only take issue with messiah part, as no one I know who voted or worked for him thinks anything of the sort. Its just sad that the right wing hacks cant understand the concept of actually believing and hoping for change and thinking he may actually be able to move us that Direction. Maybe 8 years of hopeless Bush leadership has made them believe that that level of incompetence is to be expected of our leaders. No one Believes he can perform Miracles, but many do believe that after 8 years, we can at least get going back in the right direction. whats funny is all this made up Messiah Bull..when fact is from the start , 62% of Democrats ( based on the Iowa poll, I don't know national ones at the time) supported some other Democrat at the time as the best choice. Myself having him as a 3rd choice maybe...Biden first, Richardson 2nd and by that point it was really Obama or Clinton, and my Opinion of her is known I think. I did throw my support to Obama vs McCain for some time, as I looked a long time at the 2...but as soon as I made my choice , it part due to mccain rather then anything Obama did , they already had moved on to the , Obama Bot, Messah bull when even I said anything pro Obama.

of course the right will I am guessing keep failing to recall that it was the justice who screwed it up, prompting the whole thing. it was kinda funny though. But they will try to make a big deal out of it.

It is quite amazing how far the partisan right will reach to try to pretend that Obama is worse than his predecessor, you know... dang, I've already forgotten his name, due to much effort.

The Obama administration may not be perfect, is most certainly not perfect, in fact, and will no doubt screw up from time to time. When it does, of course, mountains will be made of molehills, and real mountains propounded and repeated forever.

But, the fact is, the kakistocracy is ended, or at least, on its way out. Now, let's see what we can do about the Congress.

Its really all they have, its a party of failed old ideas, and then that guy before, added Lack of intellectual curiosity, all must be black and white, and the good old boy network to it. Just dont ever forget, evrything for the last 8 years if CLintons fault...Bush is not to blame. And all current problems will be Obamas, not Bush's...

BEEN there!!!!!!!!!

The Precedent's been SET!!

(....And, fortunately....Obama's got the same people workin'-on-it!)

"It's your lucky day. You are hard pressed to pay the instalments for your car loan and your mortgage, but suddenly a letter tells you that you have earned a big fat bonus, because you have done your job well.

You pay off your car and decide not to splash out but keep up your modest lifestyle. A day later the bank tells you that interest rates have come down, reducing your mortgage payments.

That's what happened to the US Treasury."

....With significant help from a Bush-appointed Chief Justice.

what he ment was, Bush got the mail on accident and replied...umm so yea me and dick are working hard, its hard work, you know with the work . I think people misunderestimate the work, its hard work. you know that old saying, work hard, umm its a texas saying...I am sure in minnestoa to, and you work hard,,,but work harder and shame on you....but I did it for scurity of this nation, I think its a nation...we are a nation....a nation is what this will be. the war in iraq is going well, and I think that large amount of US killed shows that. you know cuz it shows we are winning, and so they are fighting back hard. So OGBYN's can pracice there love inside a Iraqi woman. And man, i realy wish I could recall if I did cocain before, but I was to drunk back then to recall....

so are you saying that the Justice did not in fact screw up first? or that he was not appointed by Bush? Or are just saying it is wrong for no reason?

We all saw what happened. Of course, it was the justice who screwed up the oath, not Obama.

We've had eight years of misstatements, malapropisms, and verbal stumbling. At last, we have a president who is articulate. Even those who are adamantly against Obama surely have to admit that much, don't they?

Well, don't they? No? Of course, they can make up, spin, and pretend. No admissions are necessary.
