He is a symptom of our society's decline.

Sure, there have been other corrupt city officers in history. But the belief of someone so young to think this was a moral thing to do is an indictment of the culture which allowed that idea to exist in his brain.

He didnt really grasp the basic premise for a successful society, the premise of Right prevailing over Wrong.

And why that's important.

And that he evaded detection or at least increased scrutiny along the way suggests a failure of his supporters to see the signs that he might have been headed for trouble, is a sign of a society in decline.
