By race baiting, I mean that you are using the First Lady's race to make a series of race based attacks. You posted several juvenile, race based, visual jokes. You apparently think it's clever to compare the black First Lady to call her Aunt Jemima, a character that goes back to a time when black woman's job choices were to be a cook, maid, or nanny.
The First Lady didn't come up with the poster. The USDA came up with the design. We have an obesity crisis that is seriously damaging the nation. It's a good cause. What's your complaint with it?
As you can tell from all of the pictures posted in this thread, you can see this is a subject that just naturally lends itself to political comedy. All forms of media like to joke about their national leaders. Here are a few more examples....
(hint: You may have to google "laura bush pickles" to understand this one.
Lampoons are everywhere where ironies crop up.
Linking Michelle Obama with Aunt Jamima when Michelle makes an issue of the the food American's eat is a natural linkage - and to make a joke of it says nothing negative about black people.
In fact, I find it insulting that you to call my post a series of race based attacks. I said absolutely nothing racist, nor do I consider presenting two women in a stereotypical illustration as anything but funny. Both women represent images of the status of black women at points in American history. It is an honor to refer to Michelle Obama as first lady - it shows that a majority of this country has left issues like "race-bating" in the dustbin of history.
It is an symbol of our progress as a nation with regard to race that we can joke about it, without anyone taking offense. There was a time when this kind of a joke would have been socially insulting. Our nation has left that era in the past.
Maybe it is you who sees racism hidden behind behind every caricature.
Other than that, I found the nutrition poster utterly useless. I would have hoped Michelle would have told the bureaucrats to develop something that would be of great assistance to the average American who wants to eat healthy. As it is, that picture says nothing about an,"Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions on a sesame seed bun."
As far as I can see, it must be good to eat, because it contains everything shown on the poster that is promoted by Michelle Obama (assuming a sesame seed can be classified as a grain
).
How about this one... is this French-baiting, Short people-baiting, race-baiting, or French culture-baiting? I am sure the cartoon offends your every sensibilities.
