I am not from Maine so Mainers can completely disregard what I am about to say but I write the following as a friend of Mainers who would not like them to elect a U.S. Senator this year that is permanently comprised that will not be a credible advocate for the State of Maine. I am referring here to the election of Graham Platner Mainers sending him to Congress as their Senator will get a Senator that will be completely politically toxic other members of Congress and community leaders will not want to partner with Mr. Platner he will have an unfixable reputation as anti-Semitic, misogynistic, disrespectful to veterans, a communist, etc.. Further, Mr. Platner will be a liability to the Democrat Party on the good policy issues that Democrats want to promote Republicans and the media will tarnish those policies with the bad reputation of Mr. Platner, character depraved Platner supports policy X,Y or Z so do you really want to support it a bad person like Platner supports it so there must be something bad about the policy!

I think if someone was going to handicap the general election Senate race in Maine this year they would have to say that there is a ninety percent chance that Susan Collins loses reelection. There is an overwhelmingly anti-establishment sentiment across the country including Maine where Americans just think the Federal Government is really broken with shockingly bad immigration enforcement, really dumb tariff policies, an unnecessary war in Iran that has created painful inflation, a President that is unbelievable immoral and character depraved and is acting indecent and bad constantly and Congress isn't reining him it and that calls for throwing out of office incumbents and sending in replacement that will stop the badness and chaos. Most importantly though Senator Susan Collins now has a political "Achillies heel" which she did not have in the prior five Senate elections she ran in and won. This Achillies heel is that Senator Collins is responsible for the U.S. Supreme Court "Dobbs" case which overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade case and ruled that the U.S. Constitution does not provide a right to an abortion for women in America. Senator Collins is responsible because she cast the deciding vote in the Senate to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court and Justice Kavanaugh was the fifth vote needed in Dobbs to legally overturn Roe's recognition of the right to an abortion. It was a colossal mistake on Senator Collins part during the confirmation process it was evident that there was at least four Appellate cases where Judge Kavanaugh wrote case opinions where it was clear that Brett Kavanaugh was a right-wing activist Judge. There was other off ramps for Senator Collins to take to avoid giving the critical confirmation vote there was during the confirmation process an allegation against Brett Kavanaugh in High School that he attempted to rape a high school age girl and but for the intervention of one of his friends the rape would have happened. The FBI investigation on the matter and other sexual allegations against Mr. Kavanaugh was shotty and rushed (President Trump had said if the FBI uncovered evidence I would pull the Kavanaugh nomination) Senator Collins could have said the investigation was inadequate the Senate is not doing its Constitutional duty to "advise" on nominations. Also, Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski voted against the confirmation (although she ended up not voting as a courtesy to another Republican Senator that could not attend the vote) so Senator Collins would not have been the only Republican Senator blocking the confirmation but Senator Collins decided to be one of the boys and joined Senator Mitch McConnell's club to confirm Kavanaugh. This "abortion mistake" by Senator Collins with the women voting bloc decisive in Maine Senate elections this will in all likelihood be her undoing, women voters in Maine will punish Senator Collins over this by voting for Platner in sufficient numbers to throw the election to Platner!

This is a curve ball I am going to suggest for the State of Maine to avoid the colossal mistake of sending Graham Platner to Washington. Get Susan Collins to withdraw as the Republican nominee for Senate this year by July 13 and Republican Party officials can legally replace her on the ballot if done so by July 27. Maine Republicans have two good moderate Republican candidates they put on the ballot. First, Maine Senator Jim Libby he looks like a Senator he is not an extremist tries to reach across the aisle, a problem solver that focuses on the merits of the issues; the only major drawback is that he isn't fully pro-choice on abortion but he is sufficiently pro-choice to make him an acceptable candidate paraphrasing his position he believes there isa Constitutional right to an abortion he would support legislation to ban late term abortion which is reasonable during late term pregnancy the fetus has a brain and a heart and human shape where reason calls for the conclusion it is a person (Like ninety percent of abortions that take place take place before fifteen weeks - so it isn't really a big issue here). Second, Mainers could send Olympia Snowe back to Washington as a Senator she was a truly great Senator she was a moderate and courageous (one stand out was how she with Republican Senator Arlen Specter voted in 2009 to support the approximate $800 billion Democrat stimulus package to help left the country out of the Great Recession) and Senator Snowe is clearly a pro-choice Senator. The only major drawback on Senator Snowe is her age she is 79 years old but that should not be disqualifying for she is currently three years younger than Maine's other Senator Angus King and Senator Snowe could make the commitment that she would not run for reelection as a Senator she is running in a most important sense to stop the state of Maine in electing Graham Platner who is unfit to do the job his character record is just too depraved!
