Most poor people are employed, often they have more than one job, because employers can deny benefits to workers who work fewer than 40 hours. So they have two 30 hour a week jobs at or near the minimum wage.

The top 1% of Americans control 26% of the national wealth.

Trying to control businesses so the workers get more benefits than the market will bear is a product of leftist socialist misunderstandings of markets.

Why should we discourage workers from earning by assuring them their earnings will be taken by the government and given to those who do not earn through similar hard work and responsibility?
