I used to think, team-R wins, we get guns, team-D wins, we get grass - this was upsetting enough to me, since, for one thing, what good is a nice firearm without a doob to smoke and vise-versa, for another, there's a ratcheting effect, it's easier to lose liberty than to gain it, much easier, no one ever gives back power.

Well, here we got team-D running the table, Barry admits he snorted coke, but he won't give the time of day to talk of legalization. Whats worse, they're cracking down on cigarettes, e-cigs, talking about doing it to sugar-drinks.

They'll give back grass when there's no power to go with it - when they can tell us how much salt to eat, but that we're getting big and responsible now so they think we can handle a joint.

Well I have to agree with you, who would have thought

CHANGE Is Comin' Hard-And-FAST

and damn it sucks!
I'd suggest you spend a little-less-time in your bunker.

You could (probably) use some sun, anyhow.....

Uhhhhhhhhhhh....I believe the "conservatives" already covered that.....and, got The Answer they never EXPECTED.

"We need, and I use the word 'all out war,' on all fronts . . . ." That was Richard Nixon's reaction to his national commission's recommendation that marijuana no longer be a criminal offense, according to Nixon's Oval Office tapes."

I'm not really sure what you're trying to convey, despite the different fonts, colors, links, and whatnot...

I mean, I hit the links, I'm seeing that Nixon was anti-pot and it was tied in with his cultural insensitivity - I'm not amazed by that, despite the fact that pot became federally illegal under FDR, you know, it could just be a coincidence since he was kind enough to serve for 1/8th of the century - during my lifetime it's certainly been team-R's thing to be anti-pot, and we know Nixon had his flaws...

....As if that makes some kind o' difference.

It was garden-variety BIGOTS & RACISTS that made Pot illegal!

No, not as if that makes a difference - I said it might be a coincidence - just that Nixon didn't start the fire. Either way - via colored letters and unconventional punctuation you're telling me that the racists did it. To that I say maybe they did - I'm sure small mindedness did play a part in outlawing hash, but there's no amount of 'wrong' thoughts one can think to make a law - some people were in power and they took away liberty and got away with it. I wouldn't be any more happy about the law if Mother Theresa had made it than if the KKK had, but then I don't think calling people names will help my cause.

Some of the people in here try and blow you off because your style is to just give 'em a good quick hard shot to the ribs and then sidestep to your next post.

But If they looked into the core observation and statement of fact that you include in that punch they'd learn a lot of factual information.

This post is a great example. The racism angle with pot is 100% documented as true. I've even watched documentaries on it.

I'm gonna take a chance here and say that you're not a partizan zealot but someone that really worries about losing Civil Liberties.

I've been wrong before... might be now:)... but I'm willing to think optimistically of you and try and have a fruitful discussion.

The thing is that some things are more dangerous than others and affect others and society more negatively than others.

I've always thought things like seatbelts laws with fines for adults were ridiculous. Having done both, don't see how alcohol can be legal and pot cannot. Don't see legal gambling as a problem or as any different if it's in a casino or a state lottery. Think legal prostitution ran the way it is in Nevada makes a whole lot of sense. And I think going after food products is stupid as well as you do. So your point that Civil Liberties are often taken away without good reason is valid.

But things like heroin or crack that create a physical need so bad that it hugely encourages violence and theft & robbery... these things are worse on society than the loss of the Liberty to do them IMO.

Guns are a device that a law abiding person without a criminal record or mental condition should be able to obtain. But there's nothing wrong... in fact it's good for society... that we do try and check for these things and have some regulation.

Tobacco smoke is something that very negatively affects the health of others not smoking. So on this one I'm fine with taxing or removing it from the market all together for that matter.

So I agree with some of your trend of thought but ask that you also look at the some of the other drivers other than just power & taxation.

On all of the so called "moral issues" the Radical Right pandering to Christian Conservatives make it their game plan to work against the legalization of many things that in reality would be less of a problem if just simply made legal. And you are correct that in many cases even the Left holds up a stance that seems almost equally unenlightened.

But that to a great extent is because they don't want to be bashed by the Right as some kind of immoral monsters.

Do you see what I'm saying... possibly agree to some extent?

Thanks, Eric!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"In February Attorney General Eric Holder indicated in a press conference that the Obama administration–which favors physician-recommended access to medical cannabis–would abate from what had been an aggressive law enforcement (and propaganda) campaign against medical access to cannabis.

Today’s memo from The Department Of Justice formalizes these changes and is a major victory for citizens who support cannabis law reform!"

"It will NOT be a priority to use federal resources to prosecute patients with serious illnesses or their caregivers who are complying with state laws on medical marijuana," said Attorney General Eric Holder. "But we will not tolerate drug traffickers who hide behind claims of compliance with state law to mask activities that are clearly illegal," Holder added.

The Big Pharmas must be going-NUTZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Madeline Martinez is in constant pain from a disease that is destroying her joints and the discs in her back. Marijuana relieves her discomfort, she said, and the Obama administration has ended her worries that she may someday be jailed for using the drug.

Martinez, 58, of Portland, Oregon, had previously been given Abbott LaboratoriesVicodin and codeine for her pain. Use of those drugs led to stomach problems, and now she takes marijuana prescribed for her by a doctor."

Gee.....she's gonna have to give-up ADDICTIVE-drugs......a corner$tone of OUR ECONOMY??????
