62 % of all "undocumented immigrants" in the U.S. are working for cash and not paying taxes, predominantly illegal aliens are working without a green card

The cost of immigration to the American taxpayer in 1997 (last known calculation by Professor Donald Huddle, Rice University) was a NET (after subtracting taxes immigrants pay), $70 Billion per year. [What are the 2006 costs?]

The lifetime fiscal impact (taxes paid minus services used) for the average illegal alien is $55,000 cost to the American taxpayer in a 5-year span. You personally pay $11,000 every year to illegal aliens.

JOBS (per Center for Immigration Studies - September 2006): Between 2000 and 2005, 4.1 million immigrant workers arrived in the U.S., accounting for 86% of the net inrease in the total number of employed persons (16 & older), the highest share ever recorded in the U.S. Of the 4.1 million, between 1.4 and 2.7 million are estimated to be illegal aliens. Also, between 2000 and 2005, the number of young (16 to 34) native-born men employed declined by 1.7 million - at the same time, the number of new male immigrant workers increased by 1.9 million. [Do you still believe the gov't employment rate stats?]

ACTION: Please share this data with elected officials, particularly those who spew the PCBS about all the "contributions of illegal aliens to our society" AND "our economy would collapse without them"! However, NONE of this will matter IF our borders are not secured OR Pres. Bush succeeds in abolishing them (via his SPP, NAU, NAFTA Hwy), and illegal alien murders, drug smugglers and terrorists continue to be welcomed into our country

Anybody can show any set of statistics for any area. As far as I'm concerned statistics mean nothing.

What does mean something, at least to me, is that illegal immigrants are here illegally. They broke our laws coming here and should not be rewarded for breaking our laws. I don't care if they contribute to are detract from our society. For whatever reason, they did not go through the proper channels to enter this country and should therefore be deported. It's as simple as that.

The fact is I side with republicans on this issue to a certain point. I'm against the illegal immigration and glad bush amnesty bill failed.

But I'm not sure if Americans agaisnt the bill actually won ..in fact I want to believe that the bill was deliberately set up for failure. That way the pandering to the hispanic remains in tact ...while big corporations still get the influx of illegals to abuse!

Take Bill Richardson for example ...forget every word that come from his mouth ...this man is seeking an escalation in power for one reason only ...to get more Mexicans in the country!! And he stand in line with a long list of short-sighted Mexican activists in America.

In the end they are just the other wing of the same bird of the greedy corporations. See the bottom line is the reason why these mexicans are crossing our borders. They are not here to be American ...they want jobs!!

And if we can work with the Mexican government to in some way change this dynamic of have-nothing on one side ...and have-everything on the other .... things could change drastically!

But we have the corporations here who always want a situation where workers are hungry and vulnerable ...making them very exploitable. And then we have the .."Bill Richardsons" ..who in effect work to maintain this very status quo!!

Because Bill Richardson solution to all that ails Mexico ..is to get more Mexicans in America! That short-sightedness is soo ingrained ..even among the affluent and educated citizens in America with mexican heritage...its sickening!

Now take the republicans stance on this issue!! Their paranoia ...and paranoid way of treating every situation is build walls, buy guns, bomb, arrest, nuke people etc!! And thats where we part company!

I can't be a hypocryte and side with people who go to church on Sundays and prise-the-lord and would love to see piece and harmony where they live in luxery on one side of the fence ..knowing that people are dieing on the other side for basic necessities!

If we take those band-aid steps .... without trying to address the underlying problem ...meaning demand that our government hold the Mexican government to task, demand that they become responsible for their citizens, plant the seeds that will make Mexicans see the folly in marching in American streets to fix what really is a Mexican problem ....we will get nowhere!!

I agree. It does not matter if they contribute or not - they broke the law. to the extent that they contribute that is great and when they become legal through the right channels I will welcome them.

I have seen some of the statistics in the first post and they are not all correct. I suspect someone has published them and that someone is a liar.
