Sen. John Kerry skips town on sails tax
By Gayle Fee and Laura Raposa

Sen. John Kerry, who has repeatedly voted to raise taxes while in Congress, dodged a whopping six-figure state tax bill on his new multimillion-dollar yacht by mooring her in Newport, R.I.
Could the reason be that the Ocean State repealed its Boat Sales and Use Tax back in 1993, making the tiny state to the south a haven - like the Cayman Islands, Bermuda and Nassau - for tax-skirting luxury yacht owners?

Cash-strapped Massachusetts still collects a 6.25 percent sales tax and an annual excise tax on yachts. Sources say Isabel sold for something in the neighborhood of $7 million, meaning Kerry saved approximately $437,500 in sales tax and an annual excise tax of about $70,000.

harpo Oprah does the same, she loves those higher taxes except for when she has to pay them so she counts the days she actually lives in calif so she only has to pay min tax but god does she love high taxes

kerry also said today that the ice caps will melt sooner than expected, we only have 5 to 10 years before they are gone. john freaking kerry (who served in Vietnam) did we dodge a bullet when he lost or what!!!

John F-ing Kerry is irritated. The arrogance of some politicians is unbelievable.

Notice how the lib MSM has hardly mentioned this story. If it had been an R, all would know. This is why Rs are more careful because they know the press is watching. And conversely, the Ds know they can get away with it because the press will cover for them. If the press did their job equally or even close, we would have much better governance.

Hey Libs, have you heard about this?

Kerry irritated by yacht questions

Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) seemed to grow frustrated by continuing questions of whether he paid the proper taxes on his $7 million yacht.

“There is nothing more to say about it,” Kerry curtly told a gaggle of Massachusetts reporters as he tried to get into a car Monday. A video of the interaction was posted online by Boston-area WBZ-TV.

The yacht became a local issue over the weekend after the Boston Herald reported on Friday that Kerry was docking his new family boat in Rhode Island, thus avoiding nearly $500,000 in Massachusetts taxes.

They wont care. They didnt care about his multitude of houses, boats planes exc when he was running but when McCain ran it was a major issue even though he had less. hypocrites all of them....and they do not now and will never give a crap

Yes the MSM got all over Johnny McCant over his houses. And Johnny has no where near the wealth of John F-ing Kerry.

Yes just more hypocrisy from the Left.

And the useful idiots believe.

With McCain it was more because he offered the same failed policies of Bush...and he chose a wing nut as VP.

He was attacked for having too many houses because he offered failed policy and had a vp choice that left wing people did not like. Sorry but that is a really stupid reason to attack him for how many homes he has.

One of John Freaking Kerry (who served in Vietnam) houses was big enough to hold all of John McCains houses not to mention boats and planes and never once did anyone attack him on his items. The same jackasses who did not attack him on these things did attack McCain because they are hypocritical jerks.

Not to mention John freaking kerry (who served in Vietnam) had nothing to offer the voting public either.

Remember when the left tried to accuse McCain of having a "love child" outside of his marriage? Then there were the many lies about Palin, and the "investigations" into her actions as Governor.

Do you know why people like Kerry are always arguing for higher taxes on the rich? It is because they know that the "rich" will never pay most of them. When Kerry had a choice of paying higher taxes in Massachussets, or a lower rate, he chose the lower rate. That is the way of the super wealthy.

People like Kerry, the Kennedy's, the Rockefellor's, Warren Buffet, Soros, Bill Gates, etc., have so much of their money "hidden" in family trusts, public trusts, offshore accounts, etc., it is pathetic. Because of these "accounts" they are even exempt from paying estate taxes upon their death. Then there is the library fund of Clinton, the "foundations" of the Fords, Rockefellors, Gates, etc.which are nothing more then shelters for their wealth.

And yet they want to increase your taxes.

The left is so filled with hypocrisy, and thieves like Rangel, it is amazing they even have the gall to appear in public much less acting as legislators of honest people.

Then we should get into how many of their "heroes" are cowards such as Clinton, Kerry, Gore, and the list goes on.

And don't give me any crap about Bush, and his military experience, or Cheney and his deferments. I have no use for them either. It is the totality of the "Ruling Class" which knows no party affiliation that is destroying this country.

As I reacll, Kerry didn't abandon his first wife in a hospital after she had been in a terrible wreck to run off with a younger and prfetty heiress..McCain did.

And yes, Kerry married the Heinz heiress....you have a problem with people who marry rich people?

And what do you want attacked? You don't think the IRS knows what Kerry is doing? Do you really think they wouldn't go after him? That may have been true under Bush, that the rich got away with off shore accoutns and cheating the IRS, which is was, but the IRS has gone after an dis collecting taxes for not only those hid in former republican senator Phil Gramm's UBS accounts, but from all the offshore accounts set up to not pay taxes, as well.

Want to talk hypocrite? Talk the reasons McCain married wealth, how he told his WIFE he was marrying wealth, and all the tax evaders under the republican controlled government from 1994 - 2008

It was BUSH who smeared McCain...

http://www.opednews.com/articles/McCain-Maverick--Mad-Man-by-David-Glenn-Cox-080907-341.html

The Palin pick was an internal decision for an external candidate. When the Bush campaign in 2000 push-pulled McCain in South Carolina with questions about a black love child, McCain complained bitterly to the press and the party and the party turned a deaf ear. Had the Bush campaign tried the same tactic against an inside candidate there might have been hell to play. McCain is not so much a maverick as he is a backbiter. At every juncture of his career where he has "crossed over to join hands across the aisle" there has been some slight, real or perceived, where McCain sought to get even with the party.

In 1987 McCain was rebuked by the Senate Ethics Committee for his "poor judgment" in regards to the Keating Five Savings & Loan scandal. In 1992, during McCain's reelection bid, the Keating scandal was the main campaign issue. Rebuked for "poor judgment" by a Republican-controlled senate, had they forgotten that he was a war hero? Maybe they forgot, but McCain didn't. Suddenly after his reelection he became Mac the maverick and Mac the knife. He crossed over the aisle to work on the McCain-Feingold campaign reform legislation, limiting one of the Republican's best sources of campaign financing. Mac was back with a vengeance while supporting President Clinton's Supreme Court nominees, Ginsburg and Breyer.

And the rich on the right bvenefit as much from the republican policies of 1994 - 2008 which allow the rich to keep their money through tax cuts, as it does any rich democrat. As a matter of fact, these republcian tea party tax cuts to the rich cost Americans $1.3 trillion annually...and the Medicare Advantage program the Republicans did not fund under Bush costs the deficit $2.3 trillion annually.

So, it would appear as though the republcian teaparty is STILL maintaining itself as the party of the rich...stopping unemployment benefits, small busienss tax cuts..and wanting the American taxpayer to pay for all the expenses of the BP spill over $35 million

And it was the liberals who resurrected the issue around August of 2008.

Never said the Repulicans do not benefit from the same programs. However, it is the left who consistently clamor for higher taxes on the "rich" while knowing they are sheltered from those taxes, and know that eventually the taxes will be paid by the middle class.

There never was a "trillion dollar" deficit under Bush, just under Obama.

So, it would appear as though the republcian teaparty is STILL maintaining itself as the party of the rich...stopping unemployment benefits, small busienss tax cuts..and wanting the American taxpayer to pay for all the expenses of the BP spill over $35 million

As to the BP oil spill, the damages were limited by a Democrat Congress to 75 million, not 35 million. None the less, no Republican I have seen has even closely proposed any such action, and BP has promised to pay all damages which it is doing even without BO's insistence.

Also, since the American taxpayer is responsible for the actions of its government, even though BO disagrees when it is his actions, remember that it was BO that refused to allow assistance from foreign governments to clean up the mess. That is on him, not BP.

Stopping unemployment benefits which would greatly add to the deficit, which has been over 1 trillion dollars for two years now, and will be no less next year, or for many years in the future, would have hurt nothing. There is still the welfare system with all of its benefits. Perhaps the country needs to be awaken as to what is really going on. That might be one way to get some of the leftwing loonies to see the truth.

Under BO's plan, similar to that of FDR, the economy will not recover for another 5 years. Are we going to continue to pay unemployment benefits for that period of time?

Small businesses will be hurt more under BO then ever under Bush since small businesses actually benefitted from the Bush tax cuts. Most small businesses are "S" corporations, partnerships, or LLC's, and file as individuals.
