New Hampshire:
Will $tudy Adult-Use Marijuana Legalization

"New Hampshire banned most products containing hemp-derived cannabinoids, including delta-8 THC, but will examine legalizing adult-use marijuana under a bill signed into law this week.

However, the plan stipulates that adult-use sales would be restricted to state-run retail outlets.

Republican Gov. Chris Sununu turned heads when he abandoned earlier opposition and voiced support in May for legalizing recreational marijuana – but with caveats.

Saying he wants to avoid so-called “marijuana miles” – clusters of cannabis retailers – to empower cities to prohibit sales, Sununu proposed limiting sales to state-run stores.

That’s similar to how New Hampshire regulates sales of liquor, which is available only at state-run outlets."

Illinois:
Adult-Use Marijuana Sales TOP $140 Million; July

"Defying both bear-market trends as well as competition from new markets in nearby states, Illinois adult-use marijuana sales topped $140 Million in July.

That’s a 2.5% increase from June, according to state figures, but it’s also the most sales of any month in Illinois so far in 2023 – and the second-highest grossing month since the state launched its recreational program in January 2020.

For much of 2022, out-of-state sales amounted to nearly one-third of total sales in Illinois.

However, in July, Illinois residents bought $104 Million worth of cannabis, compared with $35.7 Million in sales to out-of-state customers."

"Trained police officers are frequently unable to discriminate between those who are under the influence of THC and those who are not based upon subjects’ performance on field sobriety tests, according to data published in the journal JAMA Psychiatry.

Consistent with prior analyses, police officers frequently misinterpreted subjects’ FST performance so that they deemed unimpaired participants (those who had smoked placebo cigarettes) to be under the influence. Overall, officers incorrectly classified 49.2 percent of the placebo group as impaired based upon their FST performance."
