New Marijuana Repeal Question

"Members of the Colorado Springs city council Jesus-freaks decided 7 to 2 last night to place a ballot question before voters to overturn the outcomes of a pair of November marijuana initiatives.

On election day, 54 percent of voters approved Ballot Measure 300, which allows for adult-use retail marijuana sales to take place within the city’s limits. Voters also rejected a separate ballot measure (Question 2D) which sought to explicitly ban such activities. Colorado Springs (population: 489,000) is the largest city in state to prohibit the retail sale of adult-use cannabis products.

Despite those results, some council members Jesus-freaks allege that voters were “confused” by the ballot measures’ language and that they ought to be able to weigh in once again on the issue."

GOP Lawmakers Move To Roll Back State’s Voter-Approved Marijuana Legalization Law

"A Republican lawmaker, Senator Stephen Huffman, has introduced legislation to significantly amend the state’s voter-approved adult-use marijuana legalization law.

Lawmakers are reportedly fast-tracking Senate Bill 56, which seeks to make dozens of changes to Ohio’s law. Fifty-seven percent of Ohioans voted for the law in 2023.

Changes proposed by SB 56 include raising taxes on the retail sale of cannabis products, imposing new restrictions on home-cultivation, setting an arbitrary cap on the total number of retailers allowed statewide, and providing new penalties for adults who share their cannabis with other consumers."

"A budget crisis could make Pennsylvania the next state to legalize adult-use marijuana.
Pennsylvania lawmakers are staring down a gap as big as $3.7 billion, and they have few options to fill it other than revenue from regulated and taxed cannabis.

Pennsylvania is considered the biggest prize awaiting regulated cannabis in the United States this year, the stalled rescheduling of marijuana notwithstanding.

Nearly 13 million people live in the state, which is home to major universities and tourist attractions in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh as well as a strong medical marijuana program that has a mix of major multistate operators and small businesses.

Pennsylvania had roughly 440,000 active MMJ patient certifications as of November, according to the most recent state data available, with 186 dispensaries and 32 grower-processors to serve them.

Monthly medical cannabis sales topped $140 Million in October, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Public Health, on pace with the MJBiz Factbook‘s projection of $1.7 billion in MMJ sales for 2024.

Legal recreational cannabis sales could exceed $2.8 Billion within a year, according to a projection from Washington, D.C.-based FTI Consulting that was commissioned last year by legalization advocacy group Responsible PA.

That same projection pegged potential tax revenue at $212 Million, based on the state’s 6% sales tax and an assumed 15% excise tax on recreational marijuana."
