Obama has continually been backing off of missile defense as well. I think it is a mistake, have to wait to see what he does though.

I am not sure what you mean backing off?
backing off of his first promise? I hope he backs off of his first promise.
He first said he will not weaponize space, wont make new nukes and will basicly gut the program.
I think that is foolish and beyond stupid
Well as in backing off our present posture. His posture has been one of no need for missile defense and setting a goal for no nuclear weapons.
I think it is a mistake, so we will see what he does when he takes over.

I think he will stay with his plan though, its very expensive to protect and defend ourself and he will want that money for his other socialistic programs

its a terrible idea that obama has to cut the defense program, and let us get even further behind Russia and China than we already are.
Meeting him is good, important actually.
We absolutely should meet with the Russian President.
What we should not do is take our bargaining chips off the table before beginning any talks. We should not come into a talk or negotiation from a weak position.

The point was a completely clueless and naive person like obama is meeting with medvedev, himself a formidable person but who is really representing putin, a person of great depth, intelligence, character, sophistication, and with his KGB background the most cold hard realism possible. They are sizing him up to see if he is really the appeasing non-entity they've heard about, before they go ahead with their various projects, notably the reacquisition of the former soviet republics, or at least bringing them closely into their sphere of influence.

Even if you grasp any situation around the world completely there will always be two or more very compelling sides to an issue.
An adviser's job is to make sure the President knows all sides of the issue. It is not up to an adviser to make a decision, just to relay information and ensure that the President is informed.
Being informed of the situation however means little in terms of decision making in international relations, in my view at least. There will never be a clear path to follow.
Now I am not saying that Obama will have dumb advisers, I have no doubt he will be surrounded by very smart people, every President always is. Yes that includes Bush. But being informed of the situation certainly does not ensure a good decision. In international politics, rarely is there such a thing.

I think we are behind in all areas right now in Missile technology, obama has promised to gut the program even more, he promised not to weaponize space

going into the meeting Russia doesnt have to agree to squat they know we are gutting our programs to the bone
