Purpose of the United Nations

Please don't mistake this thread as a promotion for the U.N. in
it's current state.

I don't think anyone has made any mistakes here .....

Rational thinking American citizens are not interested in any of the BS the UN has to offer ..... not from the past ... not in the future.

It's apparent from comments here that the United Nations
may no longer be a favorite child for many people.

The thread was opened more to discuss - where is the effort
to build and support an International Agency. A way to
expand our options in resolving International Issues. A
Global - Executive, Judicial, and Legislative entity,
dedicated to the advancement of mankind.

Nations have their forms of Executive, Judicial, and Legislative
entities to govern people. But on a global scale, we're still
relegated to parley and treaty. But when diplomacy breaks down,
we're left with subjugation or war. There are no legitimate
permanent global forms.

Forms commented to a set of standard to maintain international
peace, justice, security, and advancement of mankind. Not a one
world government, a world of governed governments.

Based on the founding Charter "Article 1", the U.N. was the
closest thing, at it's inception but:

The growth of a new era child(U.N.) created out of the dust
of world war has - through neglect, verbal abuse, corruption,
apathy, and political manipulation - been stunted.

Please don't mistake this thread as a promotion for the U.N. in
it's current state.

It was only an example of a "Vision" (at it's inception, one we
helped create) - One that was Lost.

Why would a nation give up their sovereignty to be subject to rules from an international body that they ultimately have no say in?

Weather it's done by fixing an existing Agency or the creation of a new Agency, "The Vision" is something that any "Rational Thinking Person" with a concern for the future, has continuously strived for in the modern world.

It is why we have created Forms of Executive, Judicial, and Legislative governance. It facilitates settlement of disputes before breach of the peace. And with that peace,allows us to focus on other pursuits in the advancement of mankind.

Within borders these agencies are cornerstones which facilitate our harmony. They evolved from the treaties and parleys first signed between tribes and communities sharing the same ground. But on a Global Scale there are no legitimate permanent global
forms.

It is not "Rational" to think that we can stick our head in the sand(Like an ostrich) and think that we are not exposed to the rest of the world. It is not "Rational" to think we can build a wall and still not imprison ourselves. It is not "Rational" to think the
world can be ruled by subjugation. History is the prove that it is only a temporary tool. A tool with horrific consequences.

How long can the oppressed be oppressed before we implode?

It's Time - "People of Earth" - On a global scale.
Redirect our efforts to expand our options in resolving International Issues.

Not a one world government, a world of governed governments.
Not a relinquishing of sovereignty or subjection to one world rule
But a Venue for resolving International disputes. Debated by and based on International Membership. Based on International Laws. With the principle of equal rights and self-determination of people.

A redirection of effort towards "A Vision" on a global Scale.
A way to put the stick on the self - An evolved way to make peace.

you seem to think that this rational person in one place sees the world in the same sense of rational as the other rational person somewhere else. that somehow this sense of rationality is common among all mankind. its simply not so. but even where its close, the ways and means to achieve goals are utterly incompatible.

The entire idea of the UN is imperfect and it needs to be disolved!

You claim the UN is not a world government and then post "it is all we have to maintain peace" which clearly suggest that you expect the UN to function as a one world government

There is a reason Liberalism is considered a disease that no Free Thinking Man will ever understand or support!

Remember Tom Daschile told George Bush go to the U.N and get permission to invade IRAQ. Why don't Mr Boehner tell Obama youll have all our Blessing attack Syria but get permission from Russia to do it.

The UN is the only hope of bringing peace among the great powers. It has succeeded in preventing a world war for 68 years. A record of peace for modern Europe.
It did not prevent smaller wars but it stop them turning into bigger wars. This does mean getting support from the Security Council. So in a sense the USA has to ask permission of Russia.
The recent proposal by Russia over Syria chemical weapons is an example of what can be achieved if the great powers co -operate
